Hi I'm Sarah Whitcomb

I come from a family of 3 boys and 3 girls. I grew up in Massachusetts, I love being in the sun and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a freshman at BYU-Idaho majoring in Elementary Education. I love reading, especially books from the regency era. I love to dance whether it is spontaneous or choreographed. Music is my stress reliever, I have played the piano for 10 years and I have played the flute for 8 years. I love big families, I have over 50 cousins and I love spending time with all of them. I love experiencing the different cultures of other countries, I have traveled to Panama and I fell in love with the people, the food and everything around them.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the gospel, my parents brought me to church and I would attend all the meetings. But I didn't know the LDS church was true till I was 14. I would see people in my church that had such strong testimonies in the church, they would say how they felt the spirit testify to them that the church was true. I was jealous of those people, I wanted to have those experiences. I knew the only way I would gain my own testimony is to take action, I started reading the Book of Mormon and praying to God to see if it is true. It took a month to get my answer, but I got it. A huge overwhelming power came over me one one night when I was reading the scriptures, and I knew the LDS church was the true church on this earth and that I would be blessed for living all the standards and commandments God has given us to follow. After that experience I have tried to live all of the churches rules and I have been very happy. I am going to a great school, I have amazing family and friends and I know I can turn to God whenever I need help. Prayer is a huge part of why I love this church, I know if I sincerely pray I will always receive help and comfort from God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by taking action. I try to follow the words of advice prophets and leaders have given and trust in the Lord that everything will turn out alright if I have true faith in him. Music is a huge way I show my faith and it helps me increase my faith. Playing the piano and being an accompaniment to the church choir or a small group is a way I hope to touch people, so they can feel the love that God has for them. Service is also a way I express my faith, when I am serving my fellow men, I am serving God. Whether it is yard work, cooking a meal or doing a small favor for someone, I'm happy to do it because I know it will make me, the recipient and God happy.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Sarah Whitcomb
The Missionaries will share the gospel of Jesus Christ and how he sacrificed himself for us so we can repent of our sins and try to be perfect like he was. They will teach you about the restoration of the gospel and how Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon and went through many trials so we could have this wonderful gospel on the Earth to bless and protect us. What is being a Mormon like?

Sarah Whitcomb
Being a Mormon is happiness, having it at your finger tips when ever you need joy. God wants us happy and the rules he tells to follow allows us to have that happiness. Attending church can allow us to have an extended family, people there to help when you need them. Mormons read their scriptures and pray daily, this communication with God allows us to receive answers to any of our questions. Families are also a big part of being a Mormon, we believe that we will always be with our family, on Eartha and in Heaven. Show more Show less
