Hi I'm Kyler Wilcox

Raised in Idaho, but Oregon is my home. I've got a lot of love for music, people, and the outdoors, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of 4 kids. I have a little sister and two little brothers, along with my mom and dad. I play the saxophone, sing in choir, and I've picked up ukulele a little bit. I love being outdoors, whether it's doing yard work, going for a walk/hike, or camping. Living in the Pacific Northwest makes it especially easy to get out in nature. I do, in fact own a pair of Birkenstocks, and I'm kind of a hippy. Between that and the ukulele, I've got the PNW vibe down. I'm a pretty optimistic and happy person, and I'm basically always smiling; I love a lot of things and people and places, and love is one of the biggest things that brings me happiness. Currently, I'm serving a full-time mission in the Salt Lake City West Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

To put it simply, I'm a Mormon because of the joy and love found within this Gospel and within this Church. At first, I was Mormon just because that's how I was raised, because I didn't know anything different. However, now I have a testimony of my own that this is the Gospel of Jesus Christ restored on the Earth once again. I'm a Mormon because of the deep joy I feel when I'm obedient to the commandments, the joy that comes from being centered on my Savior, Jesus Christ. This Gospel truly is all about happiness, happiness in this life, and eternal life with our Heavenly Father in the next life, through His plan of happiness. Christ is the source of true and lasting happiness. He loves each of us with a perfect and infinite love, and I have felt that love so much in my own life. It's that love that gives me hope and peace, it's what motivates me to keep going.

How I live my faith

As I learn more of my Savior and His character, I strive more and more to follow the example He has set; I do my best to follow His commandments. When I make mistakes, I sincerely repent and try my best to change and make improvements. I'm working on developing Christlike attributes to try and be more like my Savior, and one that really sticks out to me is charity. I want to love everyone like our Savior does, regardless of their appearance or their choices or anything else that people might judge them by. And, since music is a big part of my life, it's a big part of my spiritual identity as well. Playing hymns and songs helps me feel the Spirit, and I've also started writing my own music about the Gospel, which is an awesome way to bear testimony and express my feelings about this amazing Gospel. That is definitely another way I live my faith.
