Hi I'm Rick

Banker, farmer, husband, father and now a missionary, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After moving during Jr. High from New York to Idaho, I learned for the first time about Mormons. I was baptized into the LDS church after graduating from High School and served the church as a missionary in Germany when 19 years old. I married in the LDS temple and have been married for 40 years! I am retired from commercial banking and love to travel, and work in my vegetable garden. But those hobbies are on hold now as my wife and I are preparing to leave for two years in California as missionaries.

Why I am a Mormon

Even when a teenager, I had often wondered about all religious truth being coequal. I felt then that God was real, and that God wanted people to be more than just nice to each other. My life changed when I read the Book of Mormon for the first time. I realized how it complements the Bible and forcefully speaks about the atoning sacrifice of Jesus. Now when I read in the Bible or Book of Mormon, even after so many decades since my conversion, I still feel the influence of the Holy Ghost resonating within me, and testifying to my heart and mind that Jesus died for all, including me.

How I live my faith

My Presbyterian and Lutheran background folded into my faith when becoming a Mormon convert -- as serving others is a centerpiece of Christianity. For over 40 years, I have been given lay opportunities to serve and teach youth in Sunday School as well as minister to Mormon congregations to spread the gospel of peace. I'm enthused to become a missionary next month and spend time with people explaining my core beliefs in Jesus.
