Hi I'm Rhett

I love to run. One night I ran 33 miles just because I felt like it. My fastest marathon was in Boston. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I am not spending time with my family (I have 4 kids.), working (I'm an optometrist), or enjoying church assignments (I teach a seminary class each morning before school for high school kids who want to learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ.), I love to run...and bike and swim. I have run 16 marathons my fastest being at Boston and completed many triathlons...2 of which were half ironmans. Running gives me time to ponder the important things of life and makes me a better husband, father, optometrist, and overall person. I have had many spiritual experiences while running, helping me grow closer to Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

As a teenager I wanted to know if the Book of Mormon was true, so I began to read it and ponder it's words. One day after reading a chapter about faith, I got on my knees and asked my Heavenly Father if the Book of Mormon was true. I felt a strong spiritual witness from the Holy Ghost that it was true. Since that day I have had many other spiritual witnesses from the Holy Ghost that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's church, that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer, and that Heavenly Father is real and loves me. As I continue to live the teachings of Jesus Christ and follow the counsels of modern day prophets, my life is filled with joy and peace that confirms to me that I am doing what is right.

How I live my faith

Each morning our seminary class starts at 5:45. I am amazed at the sacrifice the youth make to get up that early to come to the church and learn about Jesus Christ and His gospel. I learn so much each day as I prepare and teach the lessons. The youth teach me a lot as well as they share their insights. After seminary I usually have about an hour and 15 minutes when I can run...or bike or swim and I get to ponder the things we talked about. As I younger man I served a mission in the southern region (Andalucía) of Spain. I loved the people of Spain and had wonderful experiences that helped me develop life skills that have aided me throughout my life. Speaking Spanish has also been a blessing for my in my career as I have many Spanish speaking patients.
