Hi I'm Debbie Gessel

I am a wife, mother and grandmother. Each day I strive to become more like Christ. Love is the answer. Now what was your question?

About Me

I am a mother of 4 grown children. I am a grandmother of 5 grandchildren. I love to fly to visit my grandchildren. I like to work in the yard. I vacation at Bear Lake. I love to read. I love to walk in nature. My exercise program is Body Flex and walking.

Why I am a Mormon

I am grateful to be member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I appreciate my mom and dad for that blessing. My dad was a convert to the church, my mom came from a Mormon family but they did not participate. They felt a responsibility to figure out what religion to would be best to raise me in. They met a nice young couple who were Mormon missionaries and invited them to listen to the lessons. After a powerful witness that this indeed was the church to join, my dad was baptized. There were many struggles as they strived to gain testimonies of each principle of the gospel. I know the change of heart came as they promised to be obedient to each principle . Each new promise took Satan's power away to lead them in the wrong direction. Their stories and examples of obedience have inspired me to do the same. I have continued to grow and learn in the same way, line upon line and precept upon precept. I am grateful to my parents for every sacrifice they have made to live the gospel. I appreciate their righteous example to me and my seven siblings. I know this is Christ's church on the earth today. I also know that He is the only way back to my heavenly Father. I am grateful for His atonement and perfect love for me. I want to be obedient to His voice so I can show my love for Him. I want to share the joy of the gospel with those who were searching as my parents were. I know the gospel will bless your life.

How I live my faith

I am trying to become more like my Savior. I study my scriptures each day and attend a scripture study group each week. I pray both in the morning and night and throughout the day. I have found the following quote to be true. "When you want to talk to God, pray. When you want God to talk to you, read the scriptures. I try to listen to inspiration to know who heavenly Father would like me to serve each day. My service includes meals to my elderly neighbor or others, notes of thanks, encouragement or appreciation, visits, phone calls, compliments, and love. I know that some of the most important service is given to my family. As I serve, I try to be kind and loving to each person I interact with. I ask myself what would Jesus see, think, feel or do in this situation? This helps me to do things His way. I feel like I am progressing if I am doing better today than yesterday. I know God is always there to help me and He is pleased with every effort that I make.
