Hi I'm Megan

I'm a college student. I love to run and be active. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently going to college as an elementary education major. I absolutely love being around little kids. Being in college has been such an adventure, teaching me to be patient and to trust in my Father in Heaven. Before college, I ran cross country and track. Racing was something I loved because it was a race against myself with others pushing me to be better. No matter what, I always said a prayer before a race and without fail, I always felt at peace and confident. When there was a big important race, I would pray for extra help to do well. Heavenly Father helped me, even though running isn't something huge in the grand scheme of things. It taught me that He loves me and wants me to be happy. I also love music! I've been playing the piano since I was little. I feel peace when I play the piano. Church hymns have been a big influence in my life. I'm almost always listening to music of all kinds. My favorite genre currently is country. One of my favorite things to do is to go camping with my family. We love circling around the campfire, playing games, singing and just telling stories or having the 'remember when' conversations. The more outdoors I am, the happier I am. Hiking is something I love as well. I love seeing the beauty God has blessed us with. Being outdoors really makes me feel closer to my Father in Heaven because I'm away from all of the distractions of the world. It enables me to focus on what is truly important: family and the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. I remember going to primary each week and just loving church. As I got older, into my teenage years, I began to gain my own testimony. Before then, I went to church because my parents took me, but as soon as I was old enough to start making my own decisions I chose to keep going to church because of the happiness it brought to me. I gained my own testimony by my experiences. As a youth, I was challenged to read the Book of Mormon all the way through. I struggled for a while to read it all the way through. I read it but never really understood it until high school. I think high school is where I really gained my testimony. I prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was true. I know without a doubt that it is true. I know that God answers our prayers. He loves us so much and wants to help us. It is through prayer that I know what I know. It is because of prayer that I am a member. I am so grateful for this gospel. It is perfect. I know that Jesus Christ is our older brother. He is always there for us. He knows what we are going through because of the Atonement. Because of Him, I know I can return to my Father in Heaven. No matter what we're going through in this life, Christ has experienced it and He wants to help us but it is up to us on whether or not we let Him in. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints has blessed my life in so many ways that I can't even being to count them. It makes me happy.

How I live my faith

Living the standards of the church may seem daunting at first, but as I do so, I see the blessings it brings. I am currently a Sunday school teacher. I teach in a ward that is for single adults, so I'm teaching people my own age. Sometimes I feel like as I prepare, I get more out of the lesson than those who I teach. I try and share the gospel not only as I teach, but how I live. Something I try to do to live by faith is to look for the good in all situations. It's hard sometimes, but as I do so, I can see how the Lord is blessing me and what He is trying to teach me. I've had trials in my life that have made me question "why?" but as I trust in my Father in Heaven, I see that it was an experience I needed to grow and to change for the better or to stop something that I shouldn't be doing. I love going to church. It is such a blessing and it is a boost to my week. As I'm going through school, the gospel has helped as I study. I can pray for the help I need and for comfort I need as I take exams. God really knows what we need. By turning to him in all things, I've grown closer to Him and our Savior.
