Hi I'm Matthew

I love my family. I love making music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I'm currently a college student studying music education. I am the youngest of three siblings, with two amazing older sisters who love and support me. As of this year, my parents are empty-nesters, so my transition to college life has been an adjustment both for me at school and for them at home. Music has always been a passion of mine; I was very involved in my high school music program and played saxophone in jazz band, concert band, and marching band in addition to serving through student leadership. Now that I'm in college, I spend my time practicing and playing in bands on campus. I'm so excited to have the opportunity to study music in college and pursue my passion! I love swimming and biking and watching movies with friends. Even though I am definitely an amateur, I love photography and carry a camera on me whenever I can. Although my future seems unsure, I'm working hard and doing my best to be happy and live life one day at a time.

Why I am a Mormon

Although my father is not Mormon, my parents together decided to raise my sisters and I in the church. Despite being raised in a Mormon family, I always knew that my involvement in the church was my choice. It was my choice whether to be baptized, whether to attend church meetings, and whether to believe the principles I was being taught. Through making these choices, I have been able to develop a personal relationship with my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I have been able to gain a testimony of His Gospel and grow to become a more Christ-like person. I recently made the choice to serve a two year mission for the church, and will be leaving this summer to serve the people of Calgary, Canada. Through this service, I hope to give others the opportunities to make the same choices that I made in order to improve their lives and their relationships with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be charitable and kind to others. To me, Jesus Christ is the ultimate example of selflessness; if I can seek opportunities to help those around me, I can feel closer to Him. I feel that one of the best ways for me to worship my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ is through sharing music. I participate in my church choir and look for opportunities to share my musical talents with others in religious settings. When I play music in praise to the Lord, I can feel the Spirit so strongly. I hope that my music can help others to feel it, too.
