Hi I'm Ty

I'm a typical "born in the church", raised in a little town in southern Utah. I'm currently on a mission to South Africa.

About Me

I grew up in a small family, just my parents, my older brother, and me. I've always had a mind for the fantastic; I love reading novels, hearing stories, watching movies, and playing video games. I'll play a game of basketball, but I'm one of those cases where "Enjoying an activity" doesn't necessarily mean "Being good at an activity." I hope to be a writer one day. I don't necessarily mean a novelist type author; I'd love that, but I'd also be very happy writing scripts for a TV show or cartoon, being a columnist for a website or paper, or writing stories for a movie or video game. That's a really competitive field, but I'd also love to be an English teacher or a practicing psychologist, so I suppose I've got options. I'm really looking forward to college, starting a family, and all of those other nice things that come with "adulthood" (I give it quotes because I'm still getting taller and wider, but I'm still pretty sure I have the mind of a twelve year old) I'm currently on a mission, so all of that is on hold while I preach the gospel. The way I see it, the Bible says "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God." So I'm doing the best I can to serve Him, and praying for the blessings to come afterward.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of this church because I've tried it out and it actually works. I know that's simple, but that's kind of how it's supposed to be. They promised me that if I live righteously, follow the commandments, and keep the promises I've made to my Father in Heaven, that I'd be blessed with happiness and peace in this world and a guarantee of joy in the life after this one. Well, teachings of the Church haven't failed me, and thanks to my prayers and scripture study I know they never will. I'm a member of this church because I've proved its worth and goodness through applying things in my own life. That's really the only way if you can tell if a church is true, by following its teachings and asking God if it really is what it says it is. He guided my answers through those efforts and I was able to feel the Holy Ghost confirming the truth of it all.

How I live my faith

I'm currently living my faith by serving a mission in South Africa. I've participated in the church in other ways, but for now my calling is to serve the Lord by serving His children and preaching His Gospel. Sharing the truth is very important to me; it's blessed my life so much, I want other people to see and feel how much living the gospel can mean to them. I mean imagine: this knowledge allows us to take every bad thing that ever happens to us, every mistake we've ever made, every challenge we'll ever have, and turn them all to good. We can use them all as lessons to build us up and draw us closer to God. Isn't that the most important thing for any of us? I genuinely believe that, so that's why I'm out sharing it.
