Hi I'm Rachel Castelo

I'm a missionary in Rancho Cucamonga California with an obsession with reading, writing, and cooking. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am the youngest of eight children and raised by a single mom that I absolutely adore and admire. I love to see the joy in all the little adventures in my life! I was born is San Bernardino, and have moved around to Kansas, Washington, Utah, and Texas. I'm afraid of heights and sleeping is one of my favorite hobbies. I really enjoy cooking really anything, but baking bread is one of my specialties! I studied English Teaching at Brigham Young University for a year, then I decided to serve a mission! I was called right back to good ol' southern California to Rancho Cucamonga and loving it!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that I can be truly happy by following the Lord's commandments and His example. Sometimes in my life I felt as if I could not keep going forward, that the tasks placed before me were far too big. But the fact of the matter is that challenges never really go away, they just change their face every now and again. Be it my father passing away, a difficult move, or living the difficulties of a blended family, the Lord has always been with me every step of the way. It does not make the challenges disappear, but rather through humble prayer the Lord has strengthened me to be able to endure to the end. I know that this church has the fullness of the Gospel and as I read my scriptures and pray I feel the Lord's love and that He knows me on a personal basis. He knows my struggles and my joys. I know by following Him, my family can be together forever and I can not only lead a full life but a happy one.

How I live my faith

I have always tried to be an example to those around me by exhibiting the love I know our Father in Heaven has for them. As a result I decided to serve a mission! It was hard decision to leave my family and put a pause on my education, but there is nothing better than to share the Gospel that has given me so much comfort and joy in my life. I live my faith by serving others and bringing myself closer to Jesus Christ. I try to walk in His footsteps and example. Through His life I have learned to have a greater love for those around me and confidence that through His grace I can accomplish and overcome all that life throws at me and that He can do the same for everyone.
