Hi I'm Courtney

I am an aspiring journalist, a photographer, and college student. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I come from beautiful northern California in a very small and rural community. I am currently going to college in Idaho. My goal for now is to become a broadcast news reporter and photographer. I love photography, especially nature and landscapes. I also enjoy working with black and white film, and love working in a darkroom printing pictures. However, I have chosen to put my schooling and my life on hold for 18 months to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been called to the Japan Kobe Mission, and am the first missionary in my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up my father was not a member of the church, so I had to decide early on if the church was for me and how strong my faith and belief in Heavenly Father was. Because I made those choices early on, it has helped me to stay strong in the gospel. Ultimately, the gospel just makes sense. It gives me a drive and something to actively progress towards. I feel hope and excitement as I think about where my life can go because of the sacrifice Jesus Christ made for me. Without this gospel, I think I would struggle with trying to understand who I am and what my real purpose in life is. I know this church is true. It has blessed my family's life and brought an added measure of love that was not there before my father became a member. The church has provided so much hope and love for me that I want to share it with others. In a sense I can see what life is like without the gospel to a small degree. I can also see what life is like with the gospel, and it has definitely made all the difference in my life.

How I live my faith

My faith is central to who I am. It really is my core, and my foundation. I try to live so that people can see what the gospel has done for my life. Many times people will ask me if I feel like I am missing out by not drinking or partying or doing other things. However, I have so many plans for my life that I don't want these distractions to get in my way. I don't want my past decisions to hinder me or take me from the path I have created for myself. The church has helped me to find my path and live my life so that I won't ever stray from my path. For some my decisions may seem odd or difficult, but for me they are taking me in the right direction.
