Hi I'm Elder Daniel R. Thomson

I grew up in CT, South Africa. I love sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am serving a mission in the Scotland/Ireland mission.

About Me

Well I love music, playing the guitar (electric and acoustic) is my favourite pass-time. I try singing, but I'm not that great. I just love expressing myself. I also enjoy hiking, long distance running, rugby, soccer and chess. I thrive of learning new things and gaining and sharing wisdom. I'm the youngest son of three children. I have an older brother and an even older sister. My mom passed away ten days before my sixteenth birthday and right now I just live and work with my father. I'm a Satellite TV and radio installer. Saving all the money I make to pay for my mission. I've been called to serve in the Scotland/Ireland mission. After my missionary service I'll be going to University to study Electronic and Electrical Engineering.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a family, I have a soul. This is how I know that Our Heavenly Father lives and Loves us. I feel real joy and real love. I know that Jesus Christ was chosen from the beginning to set a perfect example for us and to atone for the sins of mankind. His Atonement is real. I know this, because these are the things which the Holy Spirit testifies to me an to all of us. I came to the knowledge of this truth in a simple yet life changing way. I went tot he source of all truth. I prayed to God, in the name of his son to know if the Book of Mormon was true and He let me know in a way that I could never deny. That's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I got baptized at the age of fifteen, although I grew up predominately in the church. I recieved the Aaronic Priesthood shortly after and have been home teaching every month since then with my father. I was ordained a Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood at the age of sixteen. I was then called to serve as the Bishops first assistant after the previous one was called to serve a mission in London. During this time as a Teacher and a Priest my testimony really started to solidify. That's when I really become converted. Although I was strengthened through the gospel quite strongly when my mother died. I served as a the secretary in the Young Men's Presidency. I love working with the youth. Watching them learn and develop their own testimonies is quite powerful. Home teaching has also changed my life. Serving others has always been important to me. "Service before self". Another important motto of mine is, "Wher'ever thou art, act well thy part". The third motto which I live by is, "They will never care how much you know, unless they know how much you care." Now I am currently serving as a full time missionary in the Scotland/Ireland mission.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Elder Daniel R. Thomson
The Holy Bible is the word of God and in that there is no doubt. It testifies of Christ - of His coming, of His church and of His timeless personal ministry. We believe in the Bible to be the word of God as long as it is translated correctly and not left up to men to decide what that translation should entail. We believe in the Bible because the Holy Spirit will testify of all truth and light as long as we are humble seekers of it. Show more Show less
