Hi I'm Bethany

I'm British-Canadian. I love to read, draw and sing. I'm preparing to serve in the Australia Adelaide Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Milton Keynes, England and lived in a village called Sandy in Bedfordshire county until I was 5. When I was 5 my parents decided to immigrate to Canada. So we packed everything up and now I live in Calgary, Alberta! I'm a practicing artist. I attend the Alberta College of Art + Design. I hope to become an Author/Illustrator and Game Character Designer one day. I'm the eldest of four children, I love my family very much. I have a wonderful group of friends that I love to spend time with as well. I enjoy reading, drawing, playing guitar, and going to the Mountains often. I have held a booth at the Calgary Comic Expo and sold some of my own artwork. I'm a big fan of things like Doctor Who, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc! I am also preparing to serve in the Australia Adelaide Mission, I leave June 3rd, 2015.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was 8 years old. It is the greatest decision I have ever made. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings me great joy. Although I grew up in the church I didn't always have that strong of a testimony. My seed of faith has grown over the years of my life. I struggled a lot in my early to mid teenage years and never once thought to turn to Christ. I wish I had turned to Him sooner. He has lightened my burdens and lifted my sorrows and I have never been more happy in my life. The simple act of reading from the Book of Mormon brings me peace. Through the Holy Ghost I have come to know the truthfulness of this beautiful book. I know it goes hand in hand to the bible, it is another testament of Jesus Christ and everyone will benefit from reading the Book of Mormon. I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, they have always been there for me and I have learned to see his tender mercies in my life everyday. He is so mindful of me and what I need. I have witnessed a God given miracle and I am so grateful for that wonderful gift He granted. There are many times in my life where I am unsure of things or I am confused. But I can tell you in complete confidence that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the most real thing in my life and I am never ever unsure of the truthfulness of it or of His love for me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a follower of Jesus Christ. I strive to be like Him and hope to adopt some of his Christ-like attributes. I uphold my standards and avoid all things that can be harmful to me physically and spiritually. I do my best to be an example to those around me and help people in anyway I can. I try to be someone people can turn to for support and can talk to in confidence. It makes me happy to be able to help someone. I seek to serve others everyday. I have a calling in my Church called Primary Chorister. Every Sunday I teach all the children below the age of 12 uplifting happy songs and hymns to bring the spirit into their lives and to help them understand the gospel through song. I attend two institute classes a week, one is on the Book of Mormon and the other is on the New Testament. I always look forward to going to these classes because it adds something special to my day and it strengthens my understanding of doctrine and the love my Heavenly Father has for me. I also attend a Missionary preparation class once a week since I am going to serve a mission fairly soon. I read from the scriptures and pray everyday.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

When the missionaries visit you, they will teach you about God, who is our loving Heavenly Father. They will talk about Jesus Christ and His atonement and how through Him we can be happy and forgiven. They will also talk about the history of our church and how we can all return to live with our Heavenly Father one day! Missionaries will also do their best to answer all your questions you have about the Mormon faith. They are lovely people and will try to help out and serve you in anyway they can. Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes, I believe that we have a living prophet here on the Earth today. His name is Thomas S. Monson. God calls prophets to lead and guide us because he loves us! The prophet receives revelation for the whole world, he is our Heavenly Father's mouthpiece. We are so blessed to have a living prophet today. Joseph Smith was the first prophet in these latter-days. He was called of God and restored the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Earth. Since then we have had many prophets called to ensure that the work continues and so that we can be lead to help us live happy lives. Show more Show less
