Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a student at Brigham Young University, lived in Ghana and Mexico, work with refugees and exchange students, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Provo, Utah. I'm in my first year at Brigham Young University studying International Relations. I love to travel and learning about different cultures. I spent my senior year of high school living in Cape Coast, Ghana as an exchange student with the K-L YES Abroad Program. I recently completed a full time mission in Chiapas, Mexico. I volunteer with a couple organizations working with exchange students and refugees.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the church and as I've gone through challenges, the gospel has been an anchor for me. No matter what has happened in my life -- whether it's family complications or feeling lost and alone in a foreign country -- Christ has always been there for me to comfort me and give me peace. Life can be hard, but it's easier when I know I have Christ's atonement working for me. As I live the principles taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I feel the closest to my Savior. The teachings of Christ are essential to true happiness. I'm a Mormon because I love being happy!

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every day by serving those in my community. Christ gave us the perfect example of selfless service. By giving back, I come to understand a little more the love He and my Father in Heaven feel for every person I come in contact with. Especially serving those who are not from my culture helps me keep an eternal perspective of our purpose here on earth.
