Hi I'm Derek

I work as a lifeguard. I'm a son, brother, friend, and will be serving in the Lubbock Texas mission for two years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Some of my favorite hobbies are swimming and snowboarding. When ever I have some down time, I enjoy watching movies and playing video games. I am a college student and work part time as a lifeguard for Portland Park Pools. I also worked very hard in scouts and eventually got my Eagle. I have a little brother who just recently turned eight. I had the wonderful opportunity to baptize him. I also have an older sister who has been my friend my whole life. I have wonderful parents who have been great examples to me. I love my family very much.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was fortunate enough to be born into a family that is active in the church. My family has a strong historic legacy in the church. When I hear stories of my pioneer ancestors and all that they sacrificed for their faith, I am always humbled and grateful. I try everyday to live my life the way Christ would have me do. I still have many questions, but I am grateful that I have many answers. I am also grateful for the many blessings I have had in my life because of the church. I am also thankful for my wonderful, loving family because of the church and their focus on having strong families.

How I live my faith

I try to stay very active in my church. My family is very strong in the gospel and I have a wonderful ward family and support group. I try to reach out to those around me and respect them for they're views and beliefs. I make sure everyday to read my scriptures before I begin my day and before I go to bed. I have had many wonderful experiences growing up in the church. I am currently preparing to serve a full time mission in Lubbock Texas.
