Hi I'm Kaitlin

I grew up in San Antonio, Texas. I love listening to movie scores and reading books. I play the flute and piccolo. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I'm Kaitlin! I love music and reading. People usually don't see me without an instrument or a book. I am a huge marching band enthusiast. I love listening to movie scores like How to Train Your Dragon with my sister. We put the music on shuffle and try to guess which movie and which track is playing. More often than not, she's the better guesser. Currently, I am a flute performance major at BYU and am serving a mission in California, Spanish speaking.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and was baptized at eight years old. Back then, I choose to be a member of the church because I had faith that it was true based on what my parents and church leaders have taught me. As I grew up, I started reading the Bible, the Book of Mormon and other sources of doctrine, learning and praying about what I was reading. I have seen the difference in my own life from when I have neglected to follow the teachings of both the scriptures and the church and when I have followed it to the best of my ability. I have felt the Holy Spirit witness to me that what I have learned is true. That faith I had when I was young has grown infinitely stronger into a sure knowledge that He lives. Jesus Christ is our Savior and His church has been restored by his Prophet Joseph Smith. There is a living prophet today, Thomas S. Monson, who reports directly to Christ and leads His church according to His will, as the prophets did anciently in the Bible. I know that I am a child of an all powerful, all loving God who knows me and hears my prayers. As I draw closer to Him and His Son, I know with a surety that this is His truth restored on Earth once more.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by always trying to draw closer to my Father in Heaven. I read my scriptures, pray daily, and attend all of my church activities. I have served at church in many ways as a youth group leader, Sunday school teacher, and event organizer. More importantly, I have learned to rely on the Lord. As I grew up, I would come to my parents with problems or questions. Their response would always be, have you prayed about it? As I learned to pray and ask the Lord for help, I have been able to make decisions which have helped me to live faithfully.
