Hi I'm Allie.

I'm a talkative, small-town, country girl. I lived in Mexico. I'm a musician and sports enthusiast. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am that girl who loves to talk, laugh, and make friends! I'm not shy at all (partially because I'm one of the middle children within a family of eight!), and I thoroughly enjoy getting to know as many people as I can! I have had the wonderful opportunity of growing-up in a small town, which has helped shape who I am today. I love riding horses, camping, and writing songs which I compose to the guitar. I play soccer, volleyball, and many other sports--practically, I just love spending time with my family and friends! My parents and siblings are the most important people in my life. My family moved to Mexico during my teenage years, and I instantly fell in love with the culture, the Spanish Language, and the food! I am studying Spanish in college so I can become an Dual Immersion school teacher. Oh, and did I mention I'm going to be serving a full-time, LDS mission? I am so blessed to be able to serve the people of Nicaragua, and I can't wait to serve my Savior!

Why I am a Mormon

Many people assume that because I was born into the church, because both of my parents were members, that I "had" to be a member. Oh, how far from the truth that is. I love this church, and not once have I ever felt obligated or required to be a member. But, I wasn't simply born with a testimony for this church and His gospel. My testimony has grown through the different experiences I've had, both positive and negative. Through trials, tribulations, infirmities, achievements, and, well, throughout my entire life, I've felt the love of the Savior for me specifically. And THAT is why I am a member. No, I have never had a tremendously miraculous experience which confirmed to me that this church is the true church, BUT, I have had a tremendously miraculous confirmation from the Holy Ghost that has witnessed to me that this is the one and only true church. I have personally learned that God and His Son, Jesus Christ, love me. They love each of us. There is no sin, no transgression, no iniquity, which extends pasts the reaching and healing effct of the atonement of Christ. We are all Children of God; He has a plan for each of us. I have personally felt the plan He has for me. About a year before I was able to serve a mission, I began to have multiple health problems. I prayed and prayed to Heavenly Father to heal me so that I would be able to serve a mission (something that I had dreamed about ever since I was little). When we found out that my pain was caused by my xiphoid process pushing in on my heart, I was both nervous and terrified. But, through the mercy of Christ, I was able to find peace as I had my xiphoid surgically removed. I know that without Him, I wouldn't have been blessed like I was. I felt Christ's love for me the entire time, and I know that He answered my individual prayers. God really does have a plan for each of us. He loves us. He wants us to return home to Him. Through His Son, Jesus Christ, we are all able to return to Him and gain eternal life.

How I live my faith

First, I live my faith by preparing to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!! I will be serving my 18-month mission in Nicaragua, and I have already fallen in love with the people there, and I haven't even been there yet! I am preparing to serve my mission by studying the Book of Mormon, by attending the closest LDS temple to me each week, and by living my life in a way that helps others and myself come closer to Christ! Within my ward, I am a "family-history consultant". In other words, I help others find out more about their ancestors and help them to do family-history work. I also am a visiting teacher, meaning that my companion and I visit a few of the women in our ward to chat with them, share a spiritual thought, and help them with anything that they need. All in all, I feel the way I best try to live my faith is through my actions. The way I treat others, the way I handle different situations, and the way that I act when "no one is watching" really defines my character and demonstrates how I live my faith. No, I'm not perfect. I'm very far from that, to be quite honest. But, I try to live my faith and show my love for my Savior by trying to act, serve, and love as He did. The simple actions--praying, reading from the scriptures, and showing charity to all those with whom I come in contact--these little things can help me progress and grow into the woman I hope to become. I love my faith. "I'm a Mormon! I know it, I live it, I love it!"

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Allie.
Missionary service is a voluntary act, and all those who serve willingly go out into the world to preach the Gospel. I'm just a 18 year old girl, and I have prayed to my Heavenly Father to know if He wants me to serve a mission. And, what do you know! I have been called to serve and preach the gospel to the amazing people of Nicaragua! It was not required of me, nor was I forced or pressured into, serving a mission. I personally chose to serve a mission. It wasn't my parents' decision or any of my religious leaders' decision--it was mine. I decided to serve a mission because I love my Heavenly Father! I have been so blessed to have the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life, and I want to share it with others! I am beyond fortunate to experience the daily joy I feel from being a member of His true church, from knowing that I can pray to my Father in Heaven with a firm knowledge that He will listen to and answer my prayers, and from being comforted that my family truly can live and be together forever. THAT is why I have decided to serve a mission. I want to share that joy and that knowledge that I have with God's children! So, no. Mormons are not required to serve a mission. But, I know that I love God, and I will do anything to share His Gospel, His light, and His love to ALL of His children! :) Show more Show less
