Hi I'm Kara

I grew up in a town with no stoplights. I'm a physics enthusiast and an avid tree-climber. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Howdy!:) I'm currently a full time missionary for the church in the Texas Houston Mission! I love being outside and seeing sunshine and blue skies, Texas is the best! When I'm not spreading the word I love hiking, playing sports, and doing anything active!

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are Mormon and I grew up attending church every week throughout childhood. At the age of 8 I chose to be baptized a member, however, my true conversion didn't come until much later in my life. At the age of 17 I found myself battling with bouts of depression and searching desperately to find happiness. I always attended church with my parents, and felt like I believed that the LDS faith was true, but I made a lot of decisions that were contrary to Heavenly Father's plan for me in an attempt to find the happiness that I so desperately desired. Eventually my bad decisions brought me to a point in which I felt like I was at rock bottom, and that is when I learned of my Heavenly Father's unconditional love for me. His hands were constantly outstretched towards me, waiting to sustain me in my trials and afflictions. I know that when I finally gained the humility to pray for help he was there for me, and he helped me to overcome my weaknesses. He LOVES me so much that he sent his son to suffer, die, and establish an atonement that I would be able to use . His son, Jesus Christ is my Savior, and I know that no matter where we are at in life, he is here to redeem and uplift us, even from rock bottom. Today, as a 19 year old I can tell you that I am genuinely happy, and I know that my life has purpose because I am a literal Daughter of a God and that he has a plan for me and my happiness. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints makes me genuinely and unconditionally joyful. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for us, and if we follow our Savior, Jesus Christ, we will always find true and everlasting happiness. Jesus Christ has paved the way for us to overcome all of our bad decisions, all of our weaknesses, and all of the areas that we fall short in... He is our Savior and Redeemer, he loves us unconditionally. I am so grateful to be a member of this church, and I know that through it I have found true happiness.

How I live my faith

I was always taught that the most important part of living my faith is to try and emulate the example of Jesus Christ in everything that I do. Although I haven't always been the best at this, I find myself looking for opportunities for service around me everyday, and for other ways in which I can be an example of our Savior through my actions. I am currently a member of the Service Committee in my ward, and we are always planning new ways to serve those around us whether it be making blankets for those in need, or bringing dinner to someone that is going through a hard time. I love to serve those around me, and I know that when we are in the service of our fellow beings, we are only in the service of our God.
