Hi I'm Brendon

I am tall. I love making people laugh. I was born in Utah, and have grown up in Iowa. I am a Mormon.

About Me

The first thing people notice about me is that I am tall. I am 6" 5' and enjoy playing basketball, swimming, playing missionary tag, dodge ball, and chair soccer. Basically any game that involves some exertion is something I really love. Hide and seek tends to be my weakness. Not only do I like to play hard, I like thinking games too. My family and I enjoy playing board and card games like Monopoly, Uno, Scum, and Egyptian Rat Race just to name a few. Playing intense games of chess is also one thing I never get bored of. If anyone was to see me anywhere they also would probably see me with some kind of book. I truly have a passion for reading most any books, but my favorite ones to read usually involve magic or sci-fi. I don't only get into the fantasy stuff, but I also read scientific articles and good quality factual stuff because learning is one of my favorite things to do. Give me anything about space, nature, chemistry, technological advancements, anything new will have my attention.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon. I used to say that it was because I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints which is true. I have grown up as a Mormon my whole life and that, in part, is why I am a Mormon. There is more of a meaning to it now as I look at the Gospel of Jesus Christ and ponder my own experiences in it, and I cannot help but know of the truth of it. The love and service and spirit of the Church is impossible to ignore. It continues to bless lives and I have seen and felt it make my life better along with so many others. It truly professes what it teaches. Of love, service, and goodwill towards all men and God. That, in itself, is not only why I am a Mormon, but there is so much more. One of the greatest things that has furthered my conversion to the Church is when I put my faith in its teachings and I actually read the Book of Mormon. Reading from that amazing book of scripture proved to me beyond a doubt the truth. I have found so much peace and answers amongst its pages that I know there is no way to deny how true it is. My conversion has come to be even deeper than I would ever have thought possible. So deep, in fact, that I know that I will live these teachings for the rest of my life. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is It. It is The answer to all of life's problems and challenges. It is the answer to experiencing what true joy and love feels like. It is the answer to how we came here, what our purpose is, and where we are going. It is the answer to all truth and light. It has already eternally blessed my life and I know it will bless any who come unto it. I do testify of it and the peace it has brought me and encourage anyone and everyone to ponder its messages in in their hearts. Act on the hope that it is The Answer and you will know of its truth. Of this I have no doubt.

How I live my faith

I live my faith each and every day be doing my best to follow the the commandments that we have been given by God. In other words, I strive to be exactly obedient. I read my scriptures at least once every day, even if it is only a verse, and I try to always have a prayer in my heart. I am learning more about how to love my brothers and sisters everyday as I try to become better and strive to love them more. One of the best ways I have found to feel the love of God is by serving others. I have done sand bagging, mulching, and other service projects that have increased my capacity to love, but the small things work as well. Small things, like opening a door for someone here, or smiling and waving at someone there. When I see them smile, I know I did good and I know I made someones day better. It is not much, but I know I made someones day better and I feel so much more how much we are loved by God as I do these things. Not only do I get the privilege to learn and grow in this amazing Church, but I have been given the opportunity to teach and in turn, learn as I pass on what I know to be true to my Primary class. I teach 9 year-olds and boy what a blessing it is. The insights and questions they have truly build on my testimony and make me want to become a better teacher. Sometimes I think that I learn more from them than they do from me! Overall, I do my best to follow what I have been taught. I am not perfect so I make mistakes along the way, but I know that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ I can return to live with my Heavenly Father. I have the great privilege also to share the truth and the amazing message of the Gospel as I have been called to serve a two year Russian-speaking mission in the Baltic Mission Region. I cannot wait to spread what I know to be true amongst my brothers and sisters and help them come unto the fold. Or, in other words, experience the joy and light that living as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints brings.
