Hi I'm Stephanie Williams

I grew up in Southern California. I love to eat ice cream and spend time outdoors! I am currently attending BYU and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! My name is Stephanie and I am a freshmen in college. I am currently studying business management and plan to major in marketing. I grew up in Southern California and fell in love with the outdoors. Swimming, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, camping and snowboarding are just a few of my hobbies. It amazes me how incredible this planet we get to call "home" is and I simply love exploring it. A few of my favorite experiences outdoors have been hiking half dome in Yosemite, mountain biking the trails of Mammoth and camping in Moab. I also love to play sports and participated in cross country, soccer and track in high school. This past year I learned how to play racquetball and enjoy competing with my brother. I love my family more than anything and I don't know where I'd be without them. My parents taught me how important it is to work hard and love others. I also have three siblings who make fun of everything I do, but they sure make life more exciting. Lastly, I am currently preparing to serve an eighteen month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and cannot wait to serve the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because ever since I was a little girl my parents taught me that I was a daughter of God. They taught me that when I prayed to Heavenly Father, He would answer my prayers. Whether I was praying for forgiveness, help with an upcoming test, or expressing my gratitude, He was listening. As a family we studied the scriptures and attended church together. Bit by bit, piece by piece I began learn more and more about Heavenly Father's plan for me. I learned that I was here to live like Jesus Christ so that after this life I could I could live with God and my family for eternity. I learned that I was here to gain experience and help others. I learned that Heavenly Father has given me tools in this life to become better. He has given us the scriptures which teach about Jesus Christ and prophets who are called specifically to guide us in these days. I learned that when I make mistakes I can seek forgiveness and change. As I got older my faith was tested. People in high school would ask why I don't participate in certain activities, they made fun of me, and living the gospel was not always convenient. However, each time I prayed for a confirmation that these things were true, my prayers were answered. Each time I chose to live the gospel I was blessed beyond measure. As I continue to live this faith, I see God's hand in my life. I see His unconditional love, mercy and care. This gospel provides hope in a world with so much uncertainty. It provides direction and assurance that we are not alone, that we have a purpose and that God is real. That is why I'm Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many ways. One of them is preparing to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to serve a mission and now the time is almost here. I will be submitting my missionary application in just a few months. Then, I could be called to serve anywhere in the world for eighteen months. During that eighteen months I will leave my friends, family and education behind to teach people about Jesus Christ. I will teach them that there is a God who loves them, wants them to be happy and has sent His Son, Jesus Christ so that we may return to Him. I am so excited! Another way I live my faith is by teaching other students my age about the scriptures every Sunday. I have been called as a Sunday school teacher and we are currently studying the New Testament. I also live my faith by serving other girls in my dorm. The Savior taught that we need to love one another and I know that I am happiest when I forget myself and serve others. I have been assigned to visit teach a few girls in my dorm and so each month I share an uplifting message with them in addition to helping them with anything they need. Another way I live my faith is by trying to become better each day. I am not perfect nor close in anyway. I make mistakes all the time, but every day I have the opportunity to seek forgiveness and try again. Jesus Christ set the perfect example of how to obey God's commands and I live my faith by trying to become more like Him.
