Hi I'm Chandler

My name is Chandler Reed. I was born and raised in Edwardsville, Illinois which is a suburb of St. Louis. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, my name is Chandler Reed. I was born and raised in a suburb of St. Louis called Edwardsville. It's on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River. I have been a Mormon since I was a kid. I attend Utah State University in Logan, Utah. I am leaving on July 9th, 2015 for the Mexico Monterrey West Mission for 2 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a very long lineage of Mormons. So I was born into this church. Growing up, I didn't develop my own testimony very well, but piggybacked off the testimony of my parents. When I get to college, I went through a lot of questions. I could feel in my heart that the Church was true but I was unsure about a lot of things. But as I really studied the scriptures, my testimony grew daily and I knew without a shadow of a doubt that this is the Lord's true church here on this Earth. The Prophet and Apostles are truly called of God and I am so thankful for them. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he translated the Book of Mormon and that everything contained in it is true. The spirit of this church is so strong and is so great! I am so thankful for my family for raising me in this Church and for my experiences to truly grow my testimony and my faith!

How I live my faith

Growing up as a member of the church, I had many callings in the church. I was the Deacons Quorum president and Teachers Quorum president, which were divisions of our youth group for the boys. Deacons are ages 12 and 13 while Teachers are ages 14 and 15. From ages 16-18 I served on a Stake Youth Council. In our church, a region has a ward or branch and then a collection of ward or branches in a larger area is called a stake. The Stake Youth Council was a group of aged 14-18 kids from the youth of our stake who would meet once a month and plan activities for the youth of the stake. Since coming to Utah State University, I have served as the Ward Prayer Coordinator. Ward Prayer is usually Sunday night when the ward will gather together and we will pray and anyone can write something down that they want prayed for that week, whether it be person or personal help or anything. It's awesome! I'm intending to serve a mission, I am leaving in July of 2015 for Monterrey Mexico! I live my faith by reading my scriptures every day, going to church, listening to wholesome and uplifting music, also TV and movies with the same standards. I attend religion classes at my college LDS institute regularly, and I especially try to attend the temple regularly! The temple is the house of God and is very important to our religion. It is a very spiritual experience any time you go!
