Hi I'm Ashley

I am from California and I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Ashley Duffin. I was born and raised on the beaches of Southern California. I love long walks on the beach, but I would rather be on or in the water. I may not look like it, but I know an unhealthy amount about football, specifically college. I worked for my University's football team while going to school. Currently, I am serving a mission in the Georgia Atlanta North Mission. My mission is one of the greatest blessing God has allowed for me to experience. I left the church at an early age, made a U turn, and now I am here in Georgia talking to everyone. I love the gospel and the fact that we believe in second chances. I am grateful for my second chance and hope to help others access theirs!

Why I am a Mormon

In the beginning, I was Mormon because my parents were Mormon. It was just natural. I then experienced my own trail of faith. I questioned everything. This event made me wonder if my Heavenly Father truly loved me or if I was just another person to Him. It took me years to figure this question out. I left the church completely and did what any young college girl would do. There was always a lingering feeling that there was something else out there. After the passing of a family member, my heart was broken. I did not know what this meant for my family. My brother and parents were at peace and had a knowledge of something that I didn't. A part of me knew I would see her again, but there was just so many thoughts running through my head. The funeral was held at my local church building. There, my father spoke about the plan of salvation. As I listened, I was overcome by so many different feelings. What it ultimately came down to was did I believe it or did I not? I prayed. And when I did so, I felt the perfect love of my Heavenly Father. Just pure acknowledgement that not only did He truly love me, but He was so aware of me. I can reflect back on my life and see that I was never alone. He continually reached out to me. It was only when I let Him in that my life could be changed. I am learning everyday a little more about the gospel. I know of its truth and I know my Heavenly Father loves me. I know that He knows me personal and He knows every single one of us. As we draw closer to Him, He draws closer to us.

How I live my faith

Throughout our lives, we are pulled in many different directions. We are asked the hard questions, where do we go to school, what job should we purse, etc. I have come to learn that if we consul with our Heavenly Father in all things, He will lead and guide us. He will help us. He desires us to be happy. If you let Him, He will make you something more. I know this to be true because I never thought I could serve a mission. I feared that I didn't know enough, that I wasn't qualified, etc. It's times like these that when we just go all in that He shows us who we really are. I live my faith by saying a prayer, and just letting Him guide me. I find my answers to prayers through thoughts and impressions, through scripture study, and through my love ones. I am truly grateful for the knowledge that I am not only made in God's image, but that I am His daughter. This knowledge has helped me view and face my hard times. I know that He loves me and is mindful of me everyday.
