Hi I'm Linda Flores

I grew up in Texas. I write poetry. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

There is so much about life I really enjoy and love. Of the many things is history. I am studying to become a history teacher for high school students. There is so much to learn from the past and so much we can apply to our lives. I often wonder of the complexities of time and how it bends and transforms people, places, ideas. I enjoy making connections to myself and between events and philosophies. I am highly attracted to the arts, without any real talent might I add. I could spend years travelling from museum to museum admiring the great work of others. I love poetry and strive to be published someday.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe Christ is the Messiah and I believe the Church of Latter-Day Saints is His church. I spent time thinking and praying and fasting and it is, I know it is. To me when ever I have a question or doubt I am touched by the spirit and reminded of those first few months I read the book of Alma for the first time and realized God is real. He can heal us if we let him. Christ is the Savior of the world and will help anyone who seeks after him. Alma 33 5 Yea, O God, and thou wast merciful unto me when I did cry unto thee in my field; when I did cry unto thee in my prayer, and thou didst hear me.

How I live my faith

I am pretty young so I haven't had a lot of callings in my life but I one of my favorites is when I got to be the birthday specialist in my Young Single Adult ward in college. I think part of the reason why I loved it so much is because I got to do service for the people in my Relief Society and make them feel special. Birthdays weren't always that important to me but a very important special young women's leader changed my perspective so now I am grateful I had the opportunity to give that back. I currently participate in single adult ward by being a Family Home Evening leader, so I basically get to support my ward by having fun and spiritual activities every Monday night.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Linda Flores
Tithing is the greatest blessing! Member's pay 10% of the earnings and the money goes to construction to temples, chapels, and other buildings. It also goes to education to the church schools BYU, BYUI, BYU Hawaii, pathway program, and lds business college. It also goes to funding church activities. Show more Show less
