Hi I'm Renee

I grew up in Arizona, where I became the only member of the church in my family when I got baptized at 17 years old. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Arizona and I love the sunshine. I have four brothers, one older and 3 younger! I love them so much! I have always been passionate about playing sports. In high school, I played basketball. During my junior year, I met a girl while playing basketball who would eventually introduce me to the Church, she is now my best friend and roommate. I was 17 years old when I decided that I needed to be baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After high school, I began attending Brigham Young University, which is where I am now. I am studying business and I love Utah!

Why I am a Mormon

There came a time in high school when I began to reflect upon my character and my actions. I realized that I did not like who I had become. I wanted to spread happiness and kindness to others, but I was spending time with the wrong group of kids and I often got caught up in the typical high school "drama". I realized that I needed change, but I didn't know how or where to seek out the means necessary to do so. Then, just when I had begun to feel desperate and alone, I met a girl named Danielle. She was kind and generous to everyone that she encountered and I was eager to understand why. We played basketball together and by chance, we were named team captains. As we began to spend a lot of time together, I noticed even more differences in her. I loved spending time in her home and with her family, it was much different than the divorced home that I grew up in. One night, as we were driving around talking, I asked her about it. She launched into a testimony of the Spirit of God. I simply asked, "What is the Spirit?". She explained to me what she could, but directed me to seek out more truths for myself. Over the course of the next three months, I researched as much as I could and we talked all the time, she was always there for me. Little by little, I started to change and I could see the differences in my life. I am a mormon because I seek goodness, kindness, and light. I am a mormon because I want to build a Christ centered home with my husband. I am a mormon because I choose to follow the example of Jesus Christ whom makes me whole.

How I live my faith

I do my best to live my faith by taking each day and trying to make it better than the last. I focus on making small improvements every day. I also do my best to follow the commandments of the Lord by serving others. I love to serve in my community and especially in my ward. Currently, I work with the other women in my ward by helping to organize events that strengthen other women and also the people of our community. One event that I really enjoyed recently, was coming together to make valentines for missionaries who are currently serving missions! It was great to come together with the other women in my ward to serve the missionaries who are serving the Lord. Helping others is the best way that I live my faith.
