Hi I'm Ashley Van Wie

I'm serving as a missionary in Kyiv, Ukraine. I love to laugh. I love my life. And yep, you guessed it, I'm a mormon.

About Me

My dream is to travel, see the world, meet new people, try new things, and help others in any way I can. I can talk anyones head off. If someone thinks they can out-eat me, they are probably wrong. I am almost always laughing, and love to joke around. I have 5 brothers and 3 sisters, we grew up in Arizona, but have moved to Colorado and are currently living in Layton, Utah. I love my family. I absolutely adore my friends. I love the sky and say the word "cute" more than any person should. I'm currently working on learning Russian, and am hoping my brain doesn't explode. I have a 20 pound cat who is my child. We like to eat ice cream and watch movies together, especially if it's a good tear-jerker. I believe lava lamps make the best gifts. My first instinct with with almost anything is to laugh, so you can imagine the struggle has been real. I love reading. If my nose isn't in a book, I am probably doing something crazy with my friends. I am constantly taking pictures and recording the simple things in life, because I feel like its the simple things can be the most beautiful. I am very sentimental and I guess some people would call me a "pack-rat." I believe that everyone is SO IMPORTIANT. Especailly you.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born in the church, I had to find for myself whether or not I believed it was actually true. There was a period of time where I was seriously struggling with my life and didn't know which direction to go. At times I felt as if I wouldn't even be able to get through the day. I really don't know where I would be right now if I hadn't turned to Christ. I have felt just a small glimpse of the love that God has for me, and from that moment I knew that I needed to share with as many people as i could that God is oh so loving and is waiting with his arms open to us to welcome us back to him. My life has completely changed for the better because of this beautiful Gospel, loving family and friends, and building my relationship with my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I LOVE this gospel and the joy that it brings into my life. I have seen how it can completely change lives, mine included. Deciding to serve a mission, and to give my everything to the Lord all day every day has been the hardest, and the best decision I have ever made in my life. Every day I invite and help others come unto Christ.
