Hi I'm Alvas

I grew up in Idaho. I LOVE music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been member of the Church all of my life. Well technically when I was eight years old, but I have always gone to church. A few of my favorite things to do are eat, play guitar, and hang out with my friends. My friends and I love to play video games, swim, hike, camp, ski, and just about anything else. I have 3 younger siblings. Two little sisters and a little brother. I love them very much. I lifeguard on the weekends all year round even though the temperature gets down to about 0 degrees Fahrenheit. I am planning to go to college after my mission. I want to study to become a surgeon or a computer engineer. I also want to minor in music because I know how much of an influence music can make in my life and the people around me.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of the church and I won't stop being a member of the church. I have had quite a few experiences in my life that testify to me that this church has something to offer. I remember once hearing, "A person with continual experiences is never at the mercy of the person with an opinion." To me that means that I can not lose my faith just because it isn't normal or doesn't make perfect sense. I have feelings of wanting to share the gospel with people because I am happy. If someone is happy they want other people to be happy too. I want to give this happiness, this eternal and everlasting happiness to people that haven't had the opportunity to partake of it. I have a testimony that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that being true, that the Book of Mormon was a divine gift from our Father who loves his children very much. I have a testimony that he hears our prayers and answers them in ways we often don't understand or accept. I have a testimony that Jesus Christ suffered for our sins and wants nothing more than our happiness and for us to take part in his atonement. I heard once that we will not be banging on the gates of heaven asking for forgiveness, Christ will be begging us to take his forgiveness and to accept his atonement. We just need to accept his commandments and take part in his gospel. I know Christ loves me. I also know the atonement can help us not only be forgiven but with EVERYTHING else. I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I participate in church every week. I love going to seminary. I devote an hour a day to seminary, and it has been a huge blessing in my life. Every Tuesday night I go to mutual. Mutual can range from anything to making hot wings to raking leaves. Service is one of the greatest ways to let people know that you care. "People won't know how much you know until they know how much you care." -unknown. I serve as a secretary for the young men in my ward. I love the boys that I serve and serve with. They are an inspiration to me. I visit teach families in my ward and it helps me to gain that love for people that Christ has. I get to talk in Church sometimes. My favorite way to live my faith is through music. I love to share my testimony through singing praise. A few of my favorite arrangements of church related music are: Nearer My God To Thee - Vocal Point, Be Still My Soul - Vocal Point, and I Believe in Christ - Eclipse. I am now serving a mission. I am serving the people of Stockholm Sweden! I love the language, and it looks so pretty. I am so excited to share the gospel with other people. It makes me happy, and it will make others happy.
