Hi I'm Jacob Spencer

I grew up in Idaho. I worked as a lab technician. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Illinois but moved to Idaho where I spent my childhood. I play the cajon, ukulele, and guitar and I love to sing! I'm a very social person and love meeting new people. I enjoy wake boarding, snowboarding, slalom skiing, snow skiing, and swimming! I love spending time with my friends and family and enjoy spending quality time with them. I love going on group dates and just cruising around town with the music turned up all the way. I'll listen to country music but Its not my favorite. Screamo is awful! I enjoy classical music, alternative rock, pop, and anything from the 80s or 90s. I enjoy playing sports like football, ultimate frisbee, and basket ball even though I'm not good at any of them. I love captain crunch cereal and a good sunset! I strive to make the most out of every day and try to never let a moment pass me by.

Why I am a Mormon

Im a Mormon because I know that the church is true. Im a Mormon because Im not perfect, and I know that through the atoning blood of Christ I can change and become perfect. Im a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that by reading it, I can come closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ. Im a Mormon because of the prayers I've said, the words I've read, and the life I've lived. Nothing has brought me greater joy than the gospel of Jesus Christ. Im a Mormon because I want to have peace, joy and love throughout the rest of my life.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a full time 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I'm serving in the Carlsbad California mission and I'm just loving it! I love the people here and I love the opportunity I have to share my beliefs with everyone I come into contact with. For the time that I will be out here my whole life is my faith. We labor to find those who are seeking for the truth and don't know where to find it. As missionaries we are blessed to be able to study the scriptures and other church materials (general conference talks, true to the faith, etc.) for two hours every morning! It is such a blessing to be able to start the day with prayer and scripture study. There is truly no better way. I also am blessed to be able to speak with all kinds of people whom I never would have met otherwise and I am able to see how the gospel can bless their lives. I have the privilege of watching people change and become the sons or daughters of God that they were always meant to be, and I get to be a guide for them. It's amazing to see that hand of God work through me and others in the work of salvation.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Jacob Spencer
What is the purpose of life? Thats quite a thought provoking question. In the Mormon church we believe the answer is simple yet eternal. We came to earth to receive a physical body, to learn and grow through our choices, and to form an eternal family with our spouse. These three things make up the purpose of life. Its Gods plan for happiness hear on earth. As we use the atonement and build family relationships, we can become truly happy in this life and eternally happy in the life to come. Show more Show less
