Hi I'm Rei

I was born in Zimbabwe. I grew up in Germany. I'm an Anthropologist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of three children and my little brother is my best friend.I have just finished my first year of university and have been called to serve in the Brazil Salvador Mission. My spare time is spent finding great new recipes to try out; I love cooking and one of the ways I express my love for my family and friends is by cooking and baking for them. I'm an avid reader and I love to learn about new places and new languages. Growing up in the army gave me a great view into other cultures and I can't wait to travel and discover more places. I love to participate in charity work and am a great supporter of Amnesty International which I started a local group for whilst I was at school to help raise awareness to young people about the plight of our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world who do not have the same rights we are blessed with.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Catholic church and although I went to church every Sunday; I never really felt like I knew who God was or what my purpose was on this earth. I guess you could say that I outwardly showed that I was religious and believed in God but on the inside I wasn't too convinced about whether or not there even was a God. When I was fifteen, I opened the Book of Mormon I immediately knew that I had found my home and that this book would bring forth the answers of who I was supposed to be and what I need to do here on earth. Through becoming a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints I have been able to gain a testimony of who my Heavenly Father is and what our Savior Jesus Christ did for us. It brings me great comfort to know that Jesus Christ has felt every single bit of pain that I have. I am able to go through trials with a deeper knowledge that there is more after this life which is something I would not have the strength to do if I wasn't a Mormon. I love the feeling that I belong somewhere and that I am not just passing through life without a purpose. I feel like I am exactly where I am supposed to be and I have even been able to gain a much stronger testimony of the Holy Bible than I had before I was a Mormon. I also love knowing that families are eternal; I can be with my family after this life is over. The knowledge that any family that Heavenly Father might bless me with one day will be eternal brings me great joy. Living my life the way that Heavenly Father meant for me to is a great source of joy and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try and live my faith by just doing the smallest of things such as smiling at everyone I meet as that can mean the world to someone else. I am a strong believer in not judging others because Jesus didn't and this has allowed me to gain a wide variety of friends who are able to see this example that I set. Within the church I try to offer my help to those who need it even if they don't ask for it. Whether that's by bringing snacks for a busy mother's children or offering to cook dinner for someone that is ill. I try my hardest to maintain strong friendships with other church members who are around the same age as me by meeting up with them for dinner or making the effort to go together to our scripture study class every Tuesday so that we can learn together and strengthen our faith whilst strengthening our friendships. I find that by doing the smallest of things such as praying or reading my scriptures; I am able to gain the strength to live out my faith and keep the commandments that my Heavenly Father has laid out.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

By having the gift of the Holy Ghost in my life I have been blessed immensely. I find that having the Holy Ghost in my life keeps me in harmony with the way that the Lord wants me to live my life. Through the power of the Holy Ghost I am able to feel of the love of my Heavenly Father and know that I am not alone. I am able to be given confirmation of whether or not the decisions I am making are right for me. I am able avoid the pitfalls that others may befall by warnings that the Holy Ghost gives me. The Holy Ghost is a constant companion and friend to me who helps me make my life better. Show more Show less
