Hi I'm Garrett Stubbs

My mission is to change the world and serve everyone. I may be one man, but the Savior was also one man who changed the world.

About Me

I love to stay active. I've played basketball, football, soccer and swam for most of my life. Now I hit the gym as often as I can because I know that our bodies are Temples and we should treat them as such. Plus I feel really healthy, clean and happy when I eat healthy. I love being outdoors and just enjoying nature and being constantly reminded that we have been given a beautiful world. I served a mission in Jamaica and have been truly blessed by the experiences that came from serving. I have come to love the simple things of life and my desire and mission in life is to change the world and make a difference, even if that means one person at a time. My hope is that I may be able to give people hope when it seems that the world is getting darker. I may not have the faith of Captain Moroni or the humility of Ammon or even the love of our Savior Jesus Christ but I am striving each and every day to become better. I know that I make many mistakes and have fallen many times but I know that the Lord is always there picking me up and reminding me of the little things I have done right. And through through my little efforts each day I know that I can become the son that Heavenly Father wants me to become.

Why I am a Mormon

I like Nephi was born of goodly parents that taught me the ways of the gospel, but like Alma the Younger I turned away from the church. I began to criticize the church, the teachings and the people and became very bitter about my life. There came a point in time when I didn't know what to do and my Mom told me to turn to the Lord. I hadn't said a real prayer in over four years and didn't really know how to turn to the Lord once again. It took a lot of effort and humility to drop to my knees ask for His help. The Lord had answered my prayers and for the first time in many years I felt the Spirit in my heart telling me I needed to change my life and turn back to the Lord. Through the years I have slowly made my way back to Him and have found solace in his arms of mercy and love. I hope that I may one day have the faith of Nephi or Captain Moroni or the Stripling Warriors to follow the Lord without any hesitation. I strive to live the life of a consecrated disciple of Christ but at times I fall. But I know and am truly grateful that I can be forgiven of my sins and mistakes through the Atonement. I am a Mormon because through my process of coming back to the church I learned that the peace that the Lord gives to me is eternal and that I can always feel it if I am humble enough to search for it and ask for it. I continue to be a Mormon because of the experiences on my mission and the love that I felt for the people I served have allowed me to understand Heavenly Father on a deeper level. I live this gospel because I want to one day return to live with Heavenly Father, my Savior and my family. I know that no matter what may happen in my life, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will always be there for me because they live and truly love me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by building my foundation on the Savior and relying on Him to guide me through my life. I live my live by following the outline of the Plan of Salvation. It teaches us that we came to this life to make choices and to gain experience. I know that we are meant to go through trials because our Father in heaven loves us. They aren't there to break us down and have us curse God, they are placed in our lives so that we may turn to Him and know how we can move forward. I live my faith by reading the scriptures as often as I can and listening to the council of our living Prophet and Apostles. I put my trust in the Lord knowing that as long as my faith is in him and I am keeping the promises I've made to him that he will be there to guide me throughout my life.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Garrett Stubbs
The Mormon lifestyle if understood properly is a simple lifestyle. The gospel is suppose to be simple and easy to understand and live. Mormons obey the commandments both modern and ancient in order to be blessed and always have the ability to make choices. If one were to fly a kite and cut the string because they believe the kite will fly away will learn that the kite needs the string to keep it in place in the sky. The commandments are the same. They are not there to restrict us in what we can and cannot do, they are there to give us more freedom. We are encouraged to read our scriptures every day and to pray both night and day and to attend church every Sunday so that we may continue to increase our knowledge and testimony of this gospel. We are also encouraged to serve others so that we may be able to understand and feel the love that Heavenly Father has for us. We are taught that we should stay away from things if things are not in accordance with the gospel because it will not bring us that eternal peace. We are promised that "inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments, ye shall prosper." (1 Nephi 2:20) Show more Show less
