Hi I'm John

I grew up in the southern states. I love Legos and photography. I'm serving a mission in Japan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Since I was little, I've loved building with Legos, and since I was 11, I've been building up my own collection. They, and photography are really what keep me sane. Something about sitting down surrounded by Lego bricks, using my fingers to create something, photograph it, and share it with others makes me really happy. And I love sharing that happiness. When people ask me where I'm from, I sometimes find that difficult to answer. I usually answer with the most recent place I've lived. This has changed over the years: Alabama, Texas, Georgia, Louisiana, Hawaii. I grew up with my dad in the Army. My family, consisting of a loving father and mother, and eight siblings, usually moved every two to three years after living somehwhere. It was always difficult yet exciting. I learned to appreciate being able to experience different places and meeting new people. While making friends at school was somewhat difficult, I was always able to find friends within the church. I've been really grateful for that aspect of the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was born to parents who are steady in the gospel, I have come to gain my own understanding and testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Happiness is really the basis of why I'm a Mormon. So much happiness comes from the knowledge the gospel brings to light. I have felt of the love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have for me through the scriptures and repentance, and because of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I have become a better person than I would be otherwise. I have also come to gain a testimony of the truthfulness of The Book of Mormon and The Bible through prayer and following the principles found within.

How I live my faith

Following the example of Jesus Christ is really the basis of what members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints strive to do daily. Each day I strive to have the charity that Christ has for all of his brothers and sister. I have had multiple opportunities to lead my fellow young men and as I did that, they and I both gained new understandings of the gospel. Daily scripture study is also an important aspect in my life. No matter how late I may be going to bed, I always try to read at least a couple verses. Through diligence in keeping commandments and listening to the prophets, I have come to feel the love of Christ in my life and what a blessing that is.
