Hi I'm Annie Barlow

I am the Mother of four awesome boys, I love to read, hike, draw, and serve others. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up as a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have always loved to learn and explore the world around me. When I was in High School I went to Romania on a two week Medical Mission with Operation Smile that changed my life. I learned in a very profound way that we are all Children of a loving Heavenly Father. I graduated from college and my husband and I started a family. We now have 4 wonderful boys and we are never bored! We are always going on adventures and we are always busy keeping up with our intelligent, wonderfully entertaining children. I love being a Mother and I love being able to teach my children about what is truly important and how they can live with their Heavenly Father again.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was in High School I had some one ask me if I would still choose to be a Mormon when I went to College. I was really surprised by the question and answered emphatically, "Yes!" This person asked me why and the spirit helped me answer by saying that the gospel of Jesus Christ makes me Happy. Life is not easy, it is complicated sometimes and difficult. But, the gospel of Jesus Christ makes us stronger and better and teaches us that our choices matter and can bring us happiness. The plan of salvation that our Heavenly Father has laid out for us is truly perfect. It makes so much sense that the being who created us would have a plan to help us return to Him. That he would plan a way for us to become perfected through a series of trials and tests so that we could learn and grow and be able to become like Him. I am a Mormon because I know that Families are meant to be Eternal, why else would they take so much work and teach us so much? We are suppose to grow and learn and develop together with our Spouses and our Children so that we can continue on Forever as a family!! I am a Mormon because I have seen my husband who has Epilepsy overcome incredible things. He chooses everyday to be happy, to lift up others, and to bare others burdens rather than be brought down and miserable by his own trials. I know that the enabling power that comes from Atonement of Jesus Christ is what strengthens him and then helps him to strengthen others. I am a Mormon because I have seen the effects of selfishness and sin that have made others miserable and I am so grateful to get to teach the youth in my neighborhood and my own children that they can make good decisions that will bless not only their mortal lives by their lives for eternity. I am a Mormon in essences because my Faith and Knowledge of Jesus Christ and my divine identity as his Sister helps me choose to be happy Every Day!

How I live my faith

I live my Faith everyday. I start my day on my knees in prayer and end my day the same way. I have the blessing of working with the Youth in our neighborhood. It is such a beautiful responsibility to be able to plan activities and Sunday lessons that not only strengthen the youth but my self and my family. I feel like the Lord has given me so many opportunities to serve and by serving I get to grow and become better. I also feel that he has given me divine gifts and the more I use those gifts the better they become and the more gifts I see in my self and develop. Whether I use those gifts with my children at home, volunteering in their schools, going out and doing fun things as a family, or when I get to use them with the youth or in helping others in my neighborhood I feel so blessed and grateful. My Faith has given me confidence and helped me to see so many beautiful things that I would have missed if I didn't know that everything is part of our Father in Heaven's plan. My Faith makes me strong and helps me to face the challenges of Motherhood and living in a Mortal world. Through trials of health and struggles with loosing loved ones, my faith in Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ has carried me through. I am so grateful for the miracles my faith has helped me to see all around me.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Annie Barlow
I have a testimony that President Monson, like all the prophet's before him, is called of God. The prophet receives revelation for all of God's children through out the whole earth. Like prophets who have come before President Monson has dedicated his life to serving others and to teaching people about Jesus Christ. He has been called of God to do God's work and he not only sacrifices all of his time, talents and abilities to serve the Lord but he constantly gives all the glory and credit to his Heavenly Father. I know that like the prophets of old, Latter Day Prophets receive revelation and are called to lead Christ's Church through his authority and by the will of our Father in Heaven. Show more Show less

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

Annie Barlow
The early members of the Church were persecuted and driven from their homes. These early members then crossed the great planes and settled in the West. Many people lost loved ones and fell on hard times. The practice of plural marriage helped many who had lost loved ones or people who needed help to survive while building up the settlements in the West. Plural marriage blessed many families and helped people to be get the economic and family support they needed during these difficult times. Then when it was no longer needed the Lord ended it through revelation given to his Prophet. Show more Show less
