Hi I'm Stephen Richardson

Camas, WA native. Hiker. Runner. Painter. Violinist. Pianist. Designer. Botanist. BYU graduate. WesternU med student. I'm a Mormon

About Me

Since I was four years old, I've been designing houses, which has carried over into interior design, architecture, landscape, and botany. I also enjoy the outdoors: running, hiking, mountaineering, camping, kayaking - you name it. I also have a particular interest in music and art, recently taken up painting and become heavily involved in BYU Men's Chorus. All of these will forever be hobbies and interests of mine. I love experiencing different cultures, which has led me to study abroad in Vienna, Austria and perform research and humanitarian work in Kenya, Africa. Next humanitarian experience? Nuku'alofa, Tonga as I lead 14-16 youth on a humanitarian trip for 5 weeks this summer. I'm a die-hard fan of Brigham Young University where I will be graduating from this April with a Bachelor's in Neuroscience and minor in Business Management. I just got accepted to medical school for this fall so it looks like that is the next big adventure in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm not perfect by any means, but I love the gospel with all of my heart. I know that God is personally directing his work on the earth right now through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and is intimately involved in the simple details of our lives. The atonement of Jesus Christ has been an anchor in my life because I have had my own share of struggles in life, particularly depression, but by turning to the Savior Jesus Christ I have been healed. I will never be able to fully repay him for his grace and mercy, but he doesn't expect that. He loves me and I love Him. I try to serve Him by serving all of the wonderful people around me. In regards to that, I have been blessed with wonderful family, friends, and associates. I have a deep and abiding love for my family - they mean everything to me and are my best friends. I must pay particular tribute to my devoted mother, Diane Richardson, whose love has literally saved me in so many ways and helped me become the man I am today. I owe a debt of gratitude to her and my father for the incredible way they raised me. Friends have also been there for me, particularly as I have gone through school and its adventures, both exciting and challenging. I love them deeply. I know that by staying close to Jesus Christ and following his teachings, I can return to my Heavenly Father's presence and enjoy the blessing of eternity. Again, I make mistakes on a daily basis, but I can repent (meaningfully change). My faith gives me so much hope for my life.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed to teach sunday school in my congregation. Teaching the doctrines of the gospel of Jesus Christ has not only enabled me to help others, but has been an incredible opportunity to strengthen my own testimony of the teachings of Christ. I find through application of the scriptures and teachings of God's appointed leaders, I have become more converted. In addition to this, I also seek to lift people up around me. I try to be a good example and a good friend. Simply being a friend might not seem much of consequence, but I have found it to be one of the most impactful forces in life. As Jesus Christ said, "Love one another, as I hath loved you."
