Hi I'm Peter

I grew up in Southern California and moved to Northern California. I am going on a mission to Asuncion Paraguay. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Howdy! My name is Peter! I grew up in Southern California and moved to Northern California when I was 15. I played multiple sports in high school including, Football, Track and Field and Swimming. I also play recreation Basketball. I graduated and went to BYU-Idaho for a semester and I am going to differ admission until I am home from my mission. My call is to Asuncion Paraguay. I am an Eagle Scout and love the outdoors. I have been camping from the time I was eight. One of my greatest accomplishments was getting to lead a group of young men on summiting Mt. Whitney, The tallest mountain in the Continental United states. I love white water rafting, sailing, cliff diving, rock climbing, and pretty much everything to do with the outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that was Mormon. However, being born into the church doesn't mean that you don't have to be converted for yourself. My conversion took place at a youth camp for the Church called Especially For Youth. I was about 15 1/2 at the time and getting ready to go into my Sophomore year of High School. I went to church and wanted to believe what I had been taught all my life was true. I went to the Camp to really just have fun but during the first five minutes of me meeting the counselors, I realized something was gonna be different. The counselor told us the we needed to start that week with a question in our hearts that we wanted to get the answer too. I had been reading the Book of Mormon and wanted to know if it was true. I decided that, that was going to be my question. I decided to read and pray the entire week. The camp was only a week long but I kept to myself for a long time and wouldn't open up to what I was feeling. I was so afraid to ask if the Church was true because I was afraid of the answer I would receive. Thursday morning came. I was so scared. The camp would end the next day and I still hadn't gotten my answer. We went over to a couple of benches overlooking a pond. We started to read a document called Jesus The Christ. The feelings that overwhelmed me are unlike anything I had ever felt. I knew the chruch was true and that the Book Of Mormon was true. And if the Book of Mormon was true then Joseph Smith, the Prophet who translated it was a true prophet of God. I know the church Is true. I cannot deny it. I am so excited to go on a mission and teach the Gospel of Christ.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday and also attend a religious school. I have been able to hold many positions in my priesthood quorums. I have also been called to serve a mission and will be leaving for the MTC very shortly.
