Hi I'm Rebekah

I was born in New Orleans and relocated to Texas as a result of Hurricane Katrina. I love to cook and give service! I'm a mormon.

About Me

Growing up in both Louisiana and Texas, I'm a southern girl through and through. I love country music, fried chicken and driving down dirt roads. I have a deep passion for cooking and always like to create new recipes. Along with my interest in all things culinary, political science and all things pertaining to the law have always fascinated me. I love watching the varieties of Law & Order as well as most crime shows. I even participated on a mock trial team my first year of college as a defense lawyer and prosecution witness. I am getting ready to serve an LDS mission, but after I plan on attending BYU and studying communications.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the gospel of Jesus Christ is my lifeline. I can’t imagine where I would be in life if I didn’t have my faith and testimony of Him and His gospel. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides me with all of the resources I need to strengthen my relationship with my Heavenly Father and His son, my savior, Jesus Christ. I draw closer to them when I read the Book of Mormon, attend local church services and conferences, and listen to the modern day apostles and our current prophet, Thomas S. Monson, at General Conference. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints without a doubt is Christ’s true and restored church. His Spirit is always there in church meetings and brings sweet peace in to your soul. I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God and was instructed to restore Christ's church again on the Earth. I am so grateful for him and his obedience because I have so much peace and happiness in my life that I’ve been able to attain through my active membership in the church. I know that our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ live and they love each and every one of us. They know all of us by name and know more about us than we know about ourselves. I know the Book of Mormon to be true and that it is the word of God. It truly is another testament of Christ and compliments the Bible. I know that because of Christ's atonement we can be forgiven of our sins if we repent and choose to live righteously. I also know that because of His atonement, He understands perfectly everything that we will experience in our mortal lives. He knows all of our joys as well as our sorrows, and because of that, we are never alone in our experiences. When we feel like no one understands, He does. I know that when we pray, our prayers are always heard. Though sometimes in life we go through painful challenges, we can always find comfort through prayer. I also know that through challenges, we can grow and become stronger than we ever imagined.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by actively participating in church service functions and callings. I've been very lucky to live in an area that allows my congregation to participate in many different community service functions. Currently I serve as a representative for my congregation to the Young Single Adult branch, a program for ages 18-28 which allows young adults the chance to create lasting friendships and grow spiritually with those their age. The Young Single Adult branch holds many different activities such as fun dances, game nights, bowling trips and also multi-branch conferences with uplifting spiritual messages. In addition to that calling, I also serve as a teacher in our women’s organization known as the Relief Society. In Relief Society women are able to have the chance to visit teach other women within their congregation, known as visiting teaching. Visiting Teaching is a great program as it allows women the chance to really create friendships with other ladies in their congregation through monthly visits and serving them when possible. I am personally very thankful for visiting teaching as it has allowed me to make some great friends and also has provided me with support and love during hard times.
