Hi I'm Dan

I live in Utah and I'm a mortgage banker and avid cyclist

About Me

I am 41 years old and am the father of 3 beautiful children. I have an 11 year old daughter, a 9 year old son, and a 5 year old son. I've been married for 18 years to my sweetheart and we live in Utah. I work as a mortgage banker and my hobbies include: motorcycling, cycling, snowboarding, scuba diving, camping, shooting, photography, and traveling. My wife is a marathon runner and we are a very active family. We love the outdoors and love to get out and see the world.

Why I am a Mormon

There are so many reasons why I am a Mormon. I love how our church has such a strong emphasis on family. Family is literally the core unit of our society. Without strong families our society is in big trouble. Kids need to be taught correct values and principles and shown how to live them. If we don't teach them then who will? The media will teach them all the wrong things so it is our responsibility as parents to teach them correctly. The Mormon church helps me to be a better parent. My family and I go to church each Sunday and we also attend activities in the week. The principles I learn each week not only help me to be a better person but they help me to be a better parent. To me this is priceless. What I mention above are the "lighter" reasons that I'm a Mormon. The primary reason that I'm a Mormon is because I truly believe with all my heart that this is God's true church on the earth. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and each time I do, my testimony is strengthened that Joseph Smith really was a prophet of God. As I read it, I often times will ask myself: "Is there ANY possible way that an uneducated 20 year old in the 19th century could have written this book?" The answer is always NO! It would have been impossible for anyone to write that book much less Joseph Smith. But that is just my logical, number crunching brain working. The real reason I know the Book of Mormon to be true is because the spirit testifies to me that it is. Jesus said that if you want to know the truth of something, you should try it and put it to the test. I have done this countless times with the Book of Mormon and it has never failed me. Each time I read it I gain something new that applies to the challenges that I'm going through in my life. It is always profound and meaningful and almost seems custom made just for me. I KNOW that it is the word of God and that Joseph Smith was his prophet. I also know that we have a living prophet today and I'm so grateful for that.

How I live my faith

I work with the youth in my church who are ages 16-18. I love teaching and going to activities with them. They are at such a critical time in their lives when enormous decisions in their life are right around the corner (school, marriage, career, etc.). I think it is so important that our youth have a strong foundation to be able to make those decisions and I'm honored that I get to help them. They are the future of our world and they need to be taught and more importantly "shown" correct values and principles that will help them become successful parents and future leaders themselves.
