Hi I'm Tyler

I was born in Dayton Ohio, I'm a swing and ballroom dancer, programmer, scripture reader, and service doer.

About Me

I was born in Dayton Ohio, though I like to claim New York as my birthplace since all my family lives there, and I think it sounds cooler than Ohio. But I still love my home state don't get me wrong! We've got the best theme parks around! No one can argue with that. I love theme parks, I go to Kings Island all the time. I think my favorite ride might be Diamond Back but recently the rides have seemed to have gotten a little lame. I think I need to make a trip up to Cedar Point and ride Top Thrill Dragster. In addition to riding roller coaster rides I do ballroom and swing dancing, I've swung my way through a bunch of dances and on stage. I love the elegance of ballroom and the soul of swing. I really don't think I could choose a favorite between the two of them. I also program robots and lead a team of robotics engineers at my high school. I say robotics engineers but they're all still pretty young. I program in RobotC and base my programming around the robot that we design at the beginning of the season of the First Tech Challenge. I'm also the leader of the team and help to guide our presentations and meetings with business partners and judges. Though I love robotics and the FIRST program I don't think i'll be going into the field of robotics. Right now i'm trying to decide between international business and medicine. I'm not sure which I'll choose but I hope my mission to Arcadia California will help me figure it out.

Why I am a Mormon

For a while I wondered why I was a Mormon and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I didn't always consider church to be that important or a large part of my life. I realized that I needed to gain a testimony in the Book of Mormon and the church. I saw how important it was to my parents, church leaders, and friends. So I decided to read the Book of Mormon all the way through and pray every time I read asking for inspiration and guidance as I read. I read through the whole book in about two weeks, by feeling the spirit here a little and there a little, I came to the conclusion that the Book of Mormon was given to us by God to assist in our salvation and eternal life. I now know for a surety that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon through the power of God, and that the angel Moroni really did appear to Joseph Smith and lead him to the plates. Because of testimony in the Book of Mormon I started to gain a testimony in other things such as prophets, the sacrament and atonement, and eternal families. As I read, I learned, and as I faithfully attended my church meetings, I received guidance in my life and realized the importance of continuing to learn and grow. I now know of a surety that the full gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the Earth and that the priesthood power has again returned to assist us all in our lives. I've felt the joy of being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and being a Mormon. I know that the Church is true and that families can be together forever. I want to share this message with everyone around me and i'm very excited to be going to California to share the simple yet beautiful message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Which, in a nutshell is that families can be together forever.

How I live my faith

Living your faith isn't always easy, but the standard has been set and we need to enter into the narrow gate and try out hardest to adhere to the commandments and scriptural teachings. I've found that daily scripture reading and prayer can help me to align my life with the teachings of the Christ. I try and use the scriptures as a magnifying glass to study my own life and make sure that I am following the path that Christ took. I fall short sometimes but my daily prayers and scriptural study helps to provide me with a course correction. Going to church every Sunday also helps give me an extra spiritual boost to get me through the week. Its this day of the week where I can take the sacrament and remember the promise I made the day I was baptized, to be a representative of Christ. I also learn in classes about the gospel and often have the opportunity to teach as well. Teaching certain parts of the gospel helps me to understand the doctrine better and apply the teachings in my life. One thing that I love to do is go out with the missionaries. They're amazing representatives of Jesus Christ and I can't wait to serve my mission to Arcadia California! Hearing them teach strengthens my testimony in these aspects of the gospel such as the word of wisdom, tithing, and daily scripture study. In my day to day life I try to make good Christ like decision and know that if I do I will be blessed. I follow the word of wisdom, and always try and have a prayer in my heart. I love talking about the gospel with people around me and love to share the message of eternal families with my friends and other people when i'm out with the missionaries. I love to serve other people and try and help out whenever and opportunity arises. I know that service is a Christ like attribute and it a key part of my faith and testimony.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We believe that it is after all that we can do that we are saved. The gift of grace was given to us all, but we need to continue to strive to obey the commandments and choose the right. None of us have done all that we can do, but we have to try to do as much as we can do if we want to one day dwell in the presence of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
