Hi I'm Calvin

I am from Arkansas, USA. I love music, I am currently a missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Pleasant Grove, UT. At the age of 16 I moved to Jonesboro, AR with my family. I now call both of these places home. I have 3 older sisters and 1 younger brother. I LOVE music. I can listen to it for hours! I play the drums and guitar and I'll sing occasionally. I hope to do something with music in a couple years when I go to school. I am currently a Missionary serving in Virginia. I love it here. The people are amazing. I love having this opportunity to help others come closer to Christ. It truly is a blessing to see the change that can happen when someone is willing to be humble and accept Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because God answered my humble prayer. I was born into this church, but that isn't why I am a Mormon. I believe each of us have our own spiritual journey in which we come to know God & His son, Jesus Christ. As many people do, I had the tendency to waver as a teenager. Doubts and questions approached, and it took me some time to understand how to get the answers I needed. Combined with prayer, The Book of Mormon was central to receiving answers from God that I so desperately wanted. I took a challenge to read through the entire book, and then to pray and ask God if it is true. So, as I read I fervently and consistently prayed, just hoping that God would answer my prayer. For months, I would pray and not feel anything. I don't know what I was expecting as an answer to my prayer, but I eventually grew tired of waiting for an answer. Essentially, I had given up. As I turned away from the church, the Book of Mormon, and God... my life grew dimmer and dimmer. I met a man on an airplane. After speaking for a good while, he told me that he was a member of the church. I was thoroughly disinterested in speaking about religion, but he was persistent, so it went on. After a good conversation in which I learned a lot about myself, he challenged me once again to read the Book of Mormon. This time with real intent. Having real intent means that you will act on your answer from God. I decided to try this experiment once again, and read the Book of Mormon. I continued to read and pray and read and pray for just a few weeks, and I decided I was ready to act on my answer from God. I really wanted it to be true, and I really wanted to know it from God. I went for a drive, and found a peaceful spot where I was alone, and felt safe. I sat on the hood of my car and decided to ask God one last time if He was there, and if this was all true. The feeling I had was undeniable. I cannot describe it. I know that God is there. I felt the Holy Ghost. God lives. Find him.

How I live my faith

I am a Missionary. This means I dedicated 2 years of my life to serving the Lord and helping others. I am teaching and doing service 24/7 and it is the greatest experience of my life. Missionaries are called to invite others to come unto Christ and to help them receive the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If you ever have questions about Christ, our church, or anything religion-related, CONTACT THE MISSIONARIES! I promise they are there to help you with anything.
