Hi I'm Calvin

I grew up in Lindon Utah. I love drum line and DCI. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love drumline and DCI, and I played the quads for three seasons. I have become very close with my drumline friends. When I am not at drumline practice, I like to study (especially my scriptures). My favorite subject in school is math and I love tutoring the people that struggle in math. Helping someone understand math is the biggest joy that I get in my life. I'm getting ready to go on my mission, and the spirit is so strong right now.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all of my life, and I grew up in the church. My parents have taught me how to be a great person and I lovr my parents for the example they showed me. They lived their life in such a way that I knew how to be a great person. Along with my parents, I have church leaders and scout troop leaders that taught me great lessons to. But the best way that I have found to grow in the gospel and my faith is to go off my own, in a peaceful place, and then pray. Those have been the times where I was the most sure about what I was supposed to do with my life. I know that Heavemly Father hears our prayers and answers them, even if they don't come in the way that I exoect them too. But along with teaching me some great stuff, my church and scout leaders taught me how to have fun! We went on the best campouts! We got to do things that I would not have normally done and became more of a man.

How I live my faith

I my favorite way that I get to spread the love of Christ is by math tutoring. I can feel His love when I help other people overcome hard math problems or help them believe that they can do hard things. The greatest joy that I know in my life right now is helping tutor people. I am a leader in my Sunday class right now. I love occasionally getting to teach lessons and plan activities for the Wednesday meetings. I have drawn close to my group of friends through this and I expect that I will draw even closer as I get more prepared to serve a mission. Service is one the greatest things that I can do with my time and talents because it helps other people and helps me to become a better persons. Some of my fondest memories is of me doing service for my community and neighbors. Bringing joy to other people brings me true joy and happiness.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Absolutely not. Mormons do not just help other Mormons. We love to help and serve other people! If you ever needed anything to get done, ask a Mormon to help you do it. Personally, my favorite part of this Church is the opportunities for service! I had the opportunity to go on a date, or go to a service project, I would choose the service project every time; especially if it was going to help someone that was not a Mormon! What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

We believe that we cam to this earth for a couple of reasons, and I'm going to do a terrible job explaining it, so feel free to find and ask the local missionaries for a better explanation! But the first reason is to gain a physical body. Without it, we would still be a spirit and not have the blessings of having a physical body. Secondly we need too earn the difference between good and evil. Without this knowledge of good and evil, we could not make the right choices that lead us to heaven. We also need to get experiences that will help us grow to be more like our Heavenly Father and then be able to return to Him. Without experiences we would still be like babies and not remember what we learned and discovered. And lastly, maybe the most important thing that we can do is to make relationships with our families. Families last forever and continue on into the next part of the plan that God created for us. After all of these our goal is to return to heaven and live with our Heavenly Father again, to gain eternal life. Show more Show less
