Hi I'm Monte Schofield

I grew up in Eastern Idaho. My wife and I have 5 children and we have lived in four different states. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I are both from Idaho, and we have raised five children. I worked in retail clothing stores all of my working life, the last 28 for the same company. We have lived in several places from the mountain west to the east coast. Since my retirement a few years ago we have been able to travel quite a bit. We have been on seven cruises and do not intend to stop going. We love to spend time with our children and our five grand children. Only one of our children lives close to us. We even have one that is currently living in Europe. I love to play golf. I play enough anymore that I even consider myself to be fairly good at it. I also love spending time with my guitars. I am not very good at that, but I love to sing as I play, and it is a great way for me to wind down.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon home. I don't think I have ever thought much about being anything else. That is not to say I blindly followed what my parents taught me. I studied and prayed and received answer to prayer that what I had been taught was good and that it is true. I am a Mormon because I love my savior, Jesus Christ and I believe that the church has priesthood authority to administer the ordinances of his gospel. I am a Mormon because I believe that what the church teaches me is wholesome and good, and uplifting for the people of the world. I am a Mormon because it is right and if when I live the commandments it makes me feel blessed and good about myself.

How I live my faith

I try to do all I can to faithfully serve as I am called to do so. I have been a branch president, and a bishop. I have also served in three bishoprics in addition to being a bishop. As we have lived several different places I have been able to serve on the stake high council five different times. Until about three years ago I always said that was my favorite place to serve. Three years ago my wife and I were called to serve in the temple, and that quickly became my favorite callings. We look forward each week to our Wednesday evenings to serve in the temple. At the present time I am serving in the temple, I serve as our ward choir leader, and with my wife we are serving a part time church service mission. We spend several hours each month making sure the young missionaries in our area are taking care of the apartments they live in. We are also given special assignments by the mission president from time to time. We have recently been called to serve a temple mission for 18 months and will leave our home in August to do so.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Monte Schofield
As a Mormon I believe that the family is the most important part of my life. I believe that families are eternal, that I will be with my family beyond this life. We can be together forever if we follow God's plan. Show more Show less
