Hi I'm Michelle

I am a college student. I love traveling and spending time with my family. I love being in the outdoors. I'm a mormon!

About Me

I am the second oldest of five children. I was born and raised in springville, Utah. I am now attending Southern Utah University. My major is family services and I am hoping to get a masters in counseling so that I can become an elementary school counselor. I will be serving a mission in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and I am very excited to share this great gospel with my brothers and sisters. I enjoy hiking and climbing. I love traveling and experiencing new cultures. I have a love for cooking and trying new recipes.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a home with active and loving parents who taught me about our Heavenly Father who loves all of his children. We went to church every week and participated in family home evening, family prayer, and scripture study. At the beginning of my seventh grade year I made a personal goal to read the Book of Mormon for the first time. Before reading the book of mormon I really struggled with feelings of anger and selfworth and it was really effecting my testimony and my relationship with my Father in heaven. That year when I read the Book of Mormon I saw the biggest difference in my life, I had peace and I was happy. During that time, even though I did not understand the book of mormon very well, I knew that it was true because of the peace and love that I had experienced from reading it. Knowing that the Book of Mormon was true helped me come to the conclusion that this church is true and that Joseph Smith really did recieve direction from the Lord on how to translate it. Like Joseph Smith, I know that these things are true and I can not deny it! This gospel literally means everything to me! I know that the Lord provides a way for me to live with my family forever. I know that Jesus Christ's atonement is real and I have felt the power of it, and I know that it is available for everyone! That is why I am a mormon!

How I live my faith

In my Young Single Adult ward I am serving as a family history consultant and sunday school teacher. In this calling I teach other member about family history and how they can do temple work for their ancestors that have passed on. I am also a visiting teacher and I will soon be a fulltime missionary. I live my faith by being submissive to the the Lords will and trying my best to do what he has asked. I live my faith by reaching out to others around me who are struggling and I pray for them and serve them. I do my best to prove my faith by enduring through the trials that I have been given and by remembering that the Lord will strengthen me and help me to overcome and endure all things in this life.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Michelle
This earth life is a probationary state; we chose to come to earth to receive our bodies and also to be tested and prove to our Father in heaven that even through trying and difficult times we would still remember him and do everything in our power to return to live with him. Part of our earthly experience is to excercise our agency by making our own choices and part of those experiences include making mistakes and sinning. In the Pearl of Great Price the prophet Moses says "no unclean thing can dwell with God" (Moses 6:57). That is why in order to be perfected and return with God there must needs be a way for us to be cleansed of our sins. Jesus Christ chose to sacrifice himself and take upon him the sins of every individual who has or ever will live on this earth. Through the atonement and repentance (praying with a true intent to be forgiven for our sins) the Lord "remembers are sins no more". During his suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane, Christ experienced the personal physical and spiritual pains of each person. That is what makes the Atonment so personable and real. I have had personal experiences in my life that have proved to me that Christ truly knows every heartache and pain that I have felt and I know that if I put my faith in him he truly will give me the strength I need to endure and to overcome.
