Hi I'm Sylvia

I love singing and classic movies. I am a child of God, a mother of two children, a sister, a friend and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a home where church and learning about the gospel was very important. My parents had leadership positions in our family church. My sister and I were involved in Sunday School, junior ushers, and choir. Music is a very important part of my life. From violin to piano and finally to my great love, singing, music is a wonderful journey that I never want to give up. Singing brings great joy and peace in my life and I love to share this wonderful talent that God has given me.

Why I am a Mormon

I found the missing piece to my spiritual life when I found the fullness of the gospel through two wonderful missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I received confirmation of that when I had an experience at the Temple Visitors Center while investigating the church. I had visited the different exhibits in the visitors center and discussed my experiences with the missionaries who had been teaching me lessons about the gospel for several weeks.. I had a good feeling that evening about the Church. At end of the evening, the missionaries asked me to pray. We went into one of the rooms off from the exhibits. I began to pray, but then felt a force trying to hold me back from doing so. I was unable to say anything out loud for a while. I concluded that it must be Satan trying to hold me back from learning about this gospel. I prayed harder silently to God asking for help to overcome this situation. Finally, after what seemed an eternity, I felt a release and I was able to continue the pray. Afterwards, I thought that Satan was working really hard to keep me from learning more of the truthfulness of the gospel. I thought there must really be something about this Church if he was trying that hard to distract me. I knew then that this was the Church I was to join. It is one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Learning of the fullness of the gospel through the Book of Mormon has brought so much joy and many blessings into my life and into my children's lives.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through my various callings/duties in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am presently the the leader of the women in my congregation. I help administer some wonderful programs that serve and bless the lives of the women in the church as well as those in our community. I teach faith-prompting lessons, visit sisters, help when there is a need or crisis, and provide encouragement through song or as a speaker of God's word in our Sunday morning worship service. By participating in a community choir, I share my belief and faith in Christ. I pray that I can inspire someone to learn more of Christ through my talents. I believe and trust in God and am a witness to His care and support of me and my family through the difficult times as well as good times.
