Hi I'm Tristin

I'm a farm girl who is now teaching Elementary music in the big city.

About Me

I grew up playing outside and working hard. I also worked hard in school and piano. I learned the joy of teaching others when I taught piano lessons to three children in high school. I've always wanted to help others, but as a teen just saying 'hi' to someone new seemed impossible. I love looking at how far I've come, through taking the little steps at a time to push myself out of my comfort zone. A huge leap of faith and stepping stone was serving as a missionary in England. There were people from nations all over the world, who did things different from me, which was very unlike my rural roots. I grew to appreciate the experiences of each person who shared theirs with me and to love trying new things. Now I'm teaching music in an inner city school to children with varying backgrounds. Sometimes I'm scared as I drive to work, because I never know what will happen that day, but I've seen that love for others can overcome all obstacles. Already, my dreams of making a difference are coming true and continue to expand. I am singing all the time and becoming more of myself everyday as I live for others.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I've been developing a relationship with my Father in Heaven through prayer since being a young child. As I've prayed and asked questions or for help in seemingly trivial daily activities, I've received answers. I've also been guided to become a much better person than I imagined for myself. I know God loves me and wants what's best for me, so He has given me direction through His word in the scriptures, but also through the leaders of His church. I've come to see that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints really is God's organization on Earth to help us become like Him and His Son. I can continue to progress each day, because of Christ, and I have a strong family because we forgive each other and love each other by trying to put the other person first. All this comes down to a deep and abiding peace that all will work out and truly I AM HAPPY.

How I live my faith

My faith in Christ affects all I do. I am trying to love and serve others as He did. That is the goal I can reach for each day. I do this by reading His words to begin each day. All the programs of this Church have helped me expand my skills and abilities to help others and notice their needs. I try to show each person that they are important to their Savior by showing them that they are important to me by taking the time to listen or notice the 'unnoticed.' I am a leader in our women's organization for single women 18-30 years old. We plan times to get together to learn new skills and teach each other, but mostly we chat and are a strength to each other - a family for those who are away from theirs or don't have one. I try to be with people as much as possible, because I've found that's where the greatest happiness has come from.
