Hi I'm Randy

I love shining times at Mountain Man Rendezvous, burning black powder and running around in leathers. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up and have spent my entire life living in a small hometown. I have always loved the valley and the surrounding mountains. I love hunting and fishing and have hunted and camped the entire wilderness portion of the mountains and deserts surrounding my little town on a saddle horse. One of my favorite annual events is the National Mountain Man Rendezvous. Being a real mountain man is a lot of fun. Shooting black powder and rubbing shoulders with people dressed up to represent the trapping days of the 1820's is the fun part of the year. I worked in the surveying industry and spent most of my working years resolving property boundary issues a cartographer. I am now a retired farmer/rancher. I just broke out a new saddle horse and he is a dandy. My brother and I run a farm with 35 cows and four horses.

Why I am a Mormon

Currently I enjoy serving in our local temple. I love it. I have always served in some church capacity. I am convinced that if you want to be happy, it can only be found in some sort of charitable service. That service needs to include Jesus Christ. In the end Christ is the final answer to all our hopes and dreams. A testimony of that is the only thing of value we take with us when we die and leave for our posterity. My favorite scripture is John 6: 68,69. "Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God". I know the Church is true. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that Joseph Smith was one of the greatest prophets that ever walked the earth. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the current Prophet of God. As the senior apostle, President Monson holds all the keys and authority of the priesthood that were restored by Joseph Smith. I bear you this testimony in the sacred name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I have always been a Mormon. I have always known the Church was true. I have served in almost every ward calling over the past 50 years including scoutmaster. I spent 20 years serving on the county variance and planning board. My favorite community event is the annual rodeo. It brings together people from every walk and station in life. You get to meet and rub shoulders with people you may see only once a year. Even so, seeing everyone come together to make a community event like that happen is awesome. Another favorite annual event is the Shriner's barbeque for disabled children. What a great way to contribute to the needs of families that struggle with special needs. Contributing to community events like these let me get out of my daily routine and realize there are many good people willing to take time out of their busy lives and help others. This world really is a great place full of caring and wonderful people, no matter their lifestyle or station in life.
