Hi I'm Mattie Nelson

I grew up in American Fork, UT. I play the harp. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Music is very important in my family. My little brothers play the piano, one brother plays the cello, and my sisters play the violin. In my first semester of college, I decided I wanted to major in String Performance. We are so blessed to be able to share our talents with others and to listen to others as well. Music is a language that cannot be described but that triggers emotions nothing else in the world can.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me, me. I would not be the same person or have the same values that I have today without the knowledge that every mistake I have made can be forgiven and that I can be with my family forever, not just through this earth life. I am a Mormon because it gives me hope that through trials I can be blessed and grow to become the person I am meant to be. I am excited to share everything I love and know with the people in Nauvoo.

How I live my faith

Ever since I was a little girl, going to church is just something that we do. Most all my friends have been Mormon and religion is discussed all the time. Living in Utah has been so good to see the example of so many other great LDS Saints as well as some not so great saints. My mom has always been a great example to me of service and love in our church, no matter what our circumstance she always finds a way to reach out to others. Missionary work is a great aspect of our lives and I have known for a long time that I wanted to serve a mission. I have recently been called to serve and teach the gospel in the Nauvoo Visitor's Center as a missionary and I could not be more excited!
