Hi I'm Lauren

I am currently serving in the Italy Milan Mission. I love to sing. I love going on adventures. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the middle child in my family. As I said above, I absolutely LOVE to sing. Any music from Broadway to Pop to Hymns, you'll probably hear me singing it. I'm also a total geek. When I have spare time you'll find me watching Doctor Who, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, BBC Sherlock, or Star Trek. I enjoy doing Archery. I love to paint, sketch, knit, crochet, and do origami. I love exploring Italy and speaking Italian.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was younger, I was a Mormon because my parents were. Now I am a Mormon because I choose to be. I never had a big "Aha" moment. But I didn't have to. My Sr. year of high school my seminary (a gospel class held for the youth of the church either before school or on a free period) teacher said something that struck me. "Why would God waste a miracle telling you something you already know in your heart to be true?". Then I realized I already knew. I didn't need a big moment, God had given me plenty of little moments to reaffirm what I already knew. Any time I have a hard time or am struggling with something I know I can turn to my Heavenly Father for help and that he listens and cares. He may not answer your prayers immediately, but he will always answer. I know he loves me and I love him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church, trying my hardest to be obedient, and knowing I will make mistakes and that it's okay because no one is perfect. Christ atoned for my sins and for yours. He constantly helps me become a better person, and I don't know how I could ever properly repay him for that wonderful gift. But I'm going to try. I'm going on a mission for many reasons, but the main one is because I am so happy. I want to share the gospel with others so that they can feel that happiness too. I live my faith by doing everything I can to show God how grateful I am for all he has given me. And I will continue to do so till the day I die.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Our church is one that strongly believes in service. No one is paid for their church callings, they volunteer their time and efforts to further the work of the Lord. Church leaders pray and ponder (think deeply) about who should be called to what position and then invites them to accept that calling. We are then asked to "sustain" them- meaning that we are agreeing to help and support them in their calling. I love the way this works because everyone need everyone. No one can do it on their own, nor should they have to. A great feeling of unity comes out of this system, and brings the ward or branch (local gathering for church) closer together.
