Hi I'm Zachary Riddick

I grew up in Lititz, PA. I'm a beat-boxer, volleyball player, hiker, but more importantly I'm a Mormon

About Me

I absolutely love sports and the outdoors! Whether I'm playing, watching, or coaching volleyball is my favorite sport. I've played for about 7 years now, and have loved every second. I love baseball and football as well, and I am a hardcore Baltimore Ravens fan. That's shocking to some considering I live so close to Pittsburgh! I really enjoy hiking, white water rafting, really anything outdoors! I am also a huge music fan. I love beat-boxing, I do it everywhere! I had the opportunity to compete in Ohio in 2014. It was an awesome experience, and I hope to keep improving and competing more! I am currently going to college at Brigham Young University Idaho. I have been going for about 4 semesters, and I am majoring in Communications.

Why I am a Mormon

First let me testify that, I know that our Heavenly Father loves us so much. He does hear and answer our prayers, he is just waiting for us to ask him. I am a member of this Church for one reason. It makes me happy. I have been on both side of the spectrum. I used to hate the Church, and its standards. I thought they "held me back from happiness" so I conformed like a lot of kids in high school in an attempt to "fit in and be happy". But I can't name on time while I was doing things against the Church's standards that the happiness lasted, it always went away. It wasn't real. Prayer really helped me to get back on track. I received a huge answer to my prayers, that if I was going to do something, that I should do it. If I have a responsibility to something, that I should stand up and be a man. I was told to love and cherish my parents. Most importantly the answer I received was that my Heavenly Father was there, and cared for me as an individual. He knew my struggles, and fears. He knew what I needed to hear. He was just waiting for me to ask for help, with a sincere heart. I am so happy being a part of this Church. I have strived in keeping the commandments, and standards of the gospel, and it has blessed my life so much. I have recently been called to teach the gospel in Iquitos, Peru. I know it'll be very challenging, but with the help of the Lord, I can do anything. I just need to give my whole heart, might, mind, and strength, and the Lord will do the rest. I hope one day, I can help bring the Spirit into people's lives so they can pray and know for themselves of the truthfulness of this gospel. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, because it makes me happy. But most importantly, its eternal happiness, that I can share with my family and friends.

How I live my faith

In high school it was harder for me to live my faith, because for a while I was the only Mormon in my high school. Finally my senior year my sister joined me making us the only Mormon kids. BYU-I is a very different environment from my high school, considering 99% of the school is Mormon. I go to my Church meetings throughout the week, but my responsibility in my student ward is to organize activities on Monday nights. My apartment and another apartment, have a spiritual message, and then activity so that we can get to know members of our wards better, and feel more like a family.
