Hi I'm Mikayla Crystal

Love life! I love music, cooking, laughing, sports, nature, reading, crafting, trying new things, people, my family, & the church!

About Me

Currently I am a full time missionary for the church! Before now, I was a college student at Brigham Young University in Utah. I'm pursuing a career in nursing that I am really excited about. I've always loved playing and watching sports and being active. Growing up I played basketball, softball, and especially volleyball. In the summer I love boating activities and campfires. I grew up with lots of music! I've learned to play the piano, clarinet, and the guitar. I love to sing as well, especially with my family. I can't fully express my love for my family. The gospel has brought and kept us close. They are incredibly important to me. I love life! But it can be really really hard. Among other things, depression is something I have had to battle. The only reason I am here, and am where I am, is because through it all I had the knowledge of my living savior, Jesus Christ, who loves me perfectly, and understands exactly what I feel and experience. This true gospel is near and dear to my heart, and is inseparable from my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I really, honestly believe that this gospel is the truth. I grew up in this church. I am so grateful for the values and guidelines it has provided for my family and I to live by. It teaches us the incredible importance of our families, to take care of ourselves, and to always be improving. I love that our ultimate goal is to become like our Heavenly Father (God) and his son Jesus Christ, and to live with them forever in ultimate happiness. I didn't always know that I believed in this gospel. It had been taught to me my whole life. Growing up I loved it and accepted it to be true, but I never stopped to figure out if I personally believed it. The summer I graduated high school was a turning point for me. I was about to go to start my own life. I was preparing to go to college, choose a career, and eventually find a husband and raise a family. Contemplating this made me realize that I was going to have to decide to live the gospel on my own. Nobody was going to make me. I knew I couldn't continue until I knew what my beliefs and standards were. regardless of the food it brought to my life, I knew that I couldn't stand as a witness of it or raise my children in it if I didn't know that I believed it wholly and completely. I struggled as I searched my testimony, hoping it was true, but too afraid I wouldn't get an answer to ask the God I believed in. I finally went to my seminary teacher. I told him my concerns. He shared Doctrine and Covenants 6:5,6,11,13-16,20-24 with me, and asked me simple questions. He asked me if I had studied and asked about it. He asked if I had experiences where I felt it was true. Small and simple parts of my testimony came through. I could not deny that I had experienced confirmation of the truthfulness of the gospel on many occasions. I have prayed and received my own answer. I know that this gospel is true, and brings countless blessings. I love everything about it. This is why I am a Mormon :)

How I live my faith

I am currently (for 18 months) serving a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Mission. It is not easy, but I live my faith by trusting my Heavenly Father, and trying my best to do what He asks. All day everyday us missionaries eat, sleep, and breath missionary work. We talk to everyone we can, teach, invite, and serve! While we are on our missions our personal lives go on hold, and we have the amazing opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others, and we really see it change people for the better. We get to see miracles everyday! I love devoting this time to becoming as Christ-like as I can, and serving the Lord full-time through serving His children.
