Hi I'm Larkin Palmer

I taught English in China, I'm serving a mission in Jacksonville, Florida, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, my name is Larkin and I'm a Mormon! I am the oldest of 4 children, and I live on a small hobby farm. We own llamas, chickens, turkeys, cats, and dogs. I love my family! I was home-schooled from kindergarten on until I began community college at the age of 16. One of my favorite things about going to community college was going to institute! I love institute classes because I love learning more about the gospel. When I was 18, I moved to China to teach young children English for four months. While there I attended the International Branch of China and "Skyped" to church every week. To do this, I gathered with the two other active LDS teachers at my school every Sunday and we took the sacrament together and listened to talks given by foreign members living all over China, most of who were teaching English as well. After returning home from China I put in my mission papers and received my call to the Florida, Jacksonville mission. I report soon, and can hardly wait to start sharing the gospel!

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and I wouldn't change it for the world! I chose to be baptized when I was 8 years old, and I have been an active member my whole life. I love the peace that the church brings into my life, and I can't imagine living without it. I have a testimony that I can always turn to my Heavenly Father in prayer at any time of day to receive comfort, or answers to problems. I also know that I have so much to be grateful for in this world, it is my duty to help repay a kind Heavenly Father who has blessed us with this earth. I repay my Heavenly Father through paying tithing (10% of my income) and by serving his children as best I can. I love being a Mormon, and I am so grateful to have been born into this church to loving parents who have taught and guided me. I love being Mormon!

How I live my faith

One way I live my faith is by serving others. When I taught English in Weihai, China as part of the Internation Language Program (not affiliated with the LDS church), I was doing it as a volunteer. I tried to serve the children by loving them unconditionally, even when they were very frustrating. In China you cannot talk about religion with Chinese nationals, but many of the student's parents knew we were Christian. I tried to let the light of Christ shine through me and serve as best I could so that the families could see that Christians are good people. Another way I live my faith is by preparing to serve a mission. I am excited to teach people about the love Jesus Christ has for them, and invite them to come unto him. I want everyone to know that they have a Savior, Jesus Christ who loves them, and a Father in Heaven who watches out for them.
