Hi I'm Emilee

I am the oldest of five kids. I live in the Bay Area in California. I attend Brigham Young University. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending college at Brigham Young University in Utah and am interested in economics and the education field (teaching). I love the beach and anything in the water- swimming, surfing, or boogie boarding. I have been involved with Best Buddies for the past two years. I teach piano and have been involved in many choirs. I love hiking and being outside in nature. I feel close to God when I am looking out at a glass lake in the early hours of the morning, or walking through the sun-spotted forest, or trudging through snow-covered mountains. I love to ski and ballroom dance.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of many reasons. Most importantly, this Gospel is centered on love and mercy. Nothing that I, or anyone else, does is too bad for the Atonement to save us. Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father love me, and they love you. I have made Covenants with God in the Temple and when I was baptized that will allow me more joy than anything in this world can offer. They offer me more peace than anything in this world can offer. Ultimately, this Gospel allows for each of us to gain our fullest potential- to become even as God is. I am a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon is the true word of God, along with the Bible. Jesus invites us to come unto Him, and we can't fully do that unless we accept His word- all of His word. I know this is true because of the feeling of peace and love I feel in my heart when I pray to Heavenly Father, or the courage that swells within me after I read about the 2000 Stripling Warriors in Alma 56-57 who fight to defend their faith. I know Jesus lives and loves me, and you.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by taking opportunities to serve in my community and church. I have been involved with Best Buddies for the past two years, which is an organization that focuses on developing friendships between special education and general education students. I have made dear friends through Best Buddies. I have also tutored high school students for the past two years for free. I have tutored both English Second Language students who are immersed into an English-speaking school without being fluent in English, and students whose grades were below passing. Something sparks in these students when they realize that I am there not because I am paid or am forced to be there, but because I care about them and want to help them. Christ would have done that if He were here. In my ward, I have served by teaching pre-mission courses every Tuesday Night and organizing monthly ward service activities. Currently, I am preparing to serve as a missionary in Oklahoma for the next year and a half.
