Hi I'm Jake

I've been born and raised in Utah. I am a wrestler and mixed martial artist. I am called to the Ciudad Obregon mission.

About Me

I love sports. Mainly Wrestling and mixed martial arts. I also love boating, the ocean and everything it entails, longboarding and skating, and any sort of rigorous physical activity. I am called to serve the in the Ciudad Obregon mission and i couldn't be more excited to serve my Lord for two years of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason i am a mormon is because of the peace and comfort it gives me knowing that one day i will be able to return to my Father in Heaven and that not only will i be able to return to him but i will be able to live in his presence with my loved ones. As i began to pray that i may be able to develop my own testimony the Lord presented so many oppourtunities for me to grow spiritually and become the person he needs me to be in order to bring others unto this perfect gospel. But for me it hasn't always been this easy. Throughout my middle and high school days i was unsure of the gospel and didn't know if it was the right thing for me. As i would stray down the path of unrightousness though i would find that i was unhappy. So one day i made the decision to find out for myself if this was the right thing for me. So, i knelt down and began to pray every morning and night and decided that i would read the book of mormon all the way through and make sure i read it everyday. Now, as i went through this process my testimony didn't rush to me like i thought it would but the Lord placed me in situations where i could grow and learn from. Before i knew it i had gained a testimony of the atonement, and i had gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon. Then i realized, if the Book of Mormon is true, then so is this gospel that we base it off of, and if that is true then Joseph Smith really did see Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. Once these occurances happened in my life, without even realizing it, i became one hundred percent converted to this wonderful gospel of love and happiness.

How I live my faith

I am the first counselor in the priests quorum and i love what i do. The priest quorum is the last group of the Aaronic priesthood that you participate in before you go on a mission. I get to serve my young men and my ward by doing service projects and i get to learn about missionary work from the recent return missionarys. I have previously served in the special needs mutual program and i loved it. Those with special needs just have a way about them that projects Christ's love unto the world. I believe that i learned so much more from them than i could ever teach them because they're already perfect. I try to serve as much as i can whether it be shoveling someones driveway or just talking with someone when they're not having a bad day. Service in my opinion is the pure love of christ.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Jake
A testimony, to me, is my personal assurance as to the truths of the gospel. For example, i have a testimony that the atonement is real because i have been able to use it and feel my Heavenly Fathers loving arms wrap around me as i repent of my sins and as i strive to become a better person.
