Hi I'm Danny Smith

I'm a missionary, I'm a mormon!

About Me

I've been LDS my entire life, but just like anyone else, I had to figure out for myself what the truth was. I'm currently serving a full time mission in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission and get to tell people that all the time. I was into building and racing muscle cars before my mission. My parents owned a flight school when I was growing up (to teach people how to fly airplanes) and I'll probably finish up getting my pilots license after my mission. It took a lot of convincing for me to create this profile, so hopefully it isn't too rushed. I have about a year left on my mission now (I'll return home March 2016) and am looking forward to another great year of service.

Why I am a Mormon

Any Christian knows that Jesus Christ set up His church while he was on the earth. If I was going to look for a church not knowing about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I wouldn't be religious at all. I would seek out that exact same church. The Lord delights in simplicity, so that's where I stand. I couldn't devote myself to just any church unless I was perfectly sure it was the authentic church of our redeemer, Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is an authentic record of prophets and their dealings with God - each one of them testifying of Jesus Christ. It can not be denied, even though people try it unsuccessfully all the time. We need prophets and apostles on this earth. God calls people to run this church, not man. Without them, we would be led astray, just as in the time of the apostasy (after Jesus Christ was crucified). Joseph Smith was a true prophet. Many times on my mission, I've stood up for him and I will always continue to do so. If you take the time to study this gospel and see the whole picture, with the help of the Holy Ghost, you will come to know of the truthfulness of this church.

How I live my faith

I've always tried to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and live like I should. I've fallen short so many times, but that has given me a more in depth perspective of the importance of Jesus Christ's atonement. Going on a mission was a huge leap of faith, but since being out here, I've gained a greater knowledge of my accountability to God and over-all purpose in life. I had those times where I didn't go to church because of work, busy life, etc.. It's definitely helped me out here on my mission to relate to those less active members and to testify to them by experience that keeping the commandments of Jesus Christ, following His teachings, and always chosing what's right will result in lasting happiness that WONT be found anywhere else.
